Sharpton threatens march on DNC

NEW YORK, Feb. 14 (UPI) -- The Rev. Al Sharpton said he is opposed to the Democratic Party seating delegates from Florida and Michigan at the national convention.

The New York Post reported that the former presidential candidate and social activist threatened to lead a protest at the Democratic National Committee's Washington headquarters if the group committed the "grave injustice" of seating the delegates.

Sharpton's comments in a letter to DNC Chairman Howard Dean come on the heels of NAACP leader Julian Bond's urging of Democratic Party officials to seat the delegates or run the risk of "disenfranchising" minority voters.

Florida and Michigan were stripped of their delegates to the Democratic convention after violating national party rules by setting their primaries before Feb. 5.

"I firmly believe that changing the rules now and seating delegates from Florida and Michigan at this point would not only violate the Democratic Party's rules of fairness, but also would be a grave injustice," Sharpton wrote.

Sharpton said his Harlem-based National Action Network is considering a march on DNC headquarters.

"This smacks of the same stuff we accused the Republicans of in Florida in 2000 ... changing the rules," he was quoted as saying.

well....... So Sharpton can admit that it wouldn’t be right to seat delegates chosen as a result of the sham elections conducted in Michigan and Florida. All were told that these elections wouldn’t count. Obama took his name off the ballot in Michigan for that reason.

Hey, get the popcorn. Howard Dean and the DNC have some real headaches to deal with.

The only sensible way to settle this dilemma is by Sharpton and Bonds stepping into the ring with Obama as the referee.

This is priceless! The disenfranchised element of the DemocRATic Party rising up against their oppressors. Now the whole world will see how dirty the Rats really are when it comes to stealing elections.

Wait a second... Sharpton wants to toss out the votes because rules weren’t followed? What happened to “count all the votes” or “will of the voter”?

I love how people who said a Geezer’s vote for Buchanan should really go to Gore because the Geezer was confused now say all votes for the entire state should be tossed because they held their primaries too soon. Hitlery would surely have argued the same if she had lost MI and FL.

Horse Hocky!

It was the Democrats who tried to change the rules...

And the sad part was every rule they changed still came out in GB's favor. So take your lies and choke on it Al...

Except, it'd actually be TRUE this time.
