Clinton's Spin Machine: Spun Dry

Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008 By MICHAEL GRUNWALD

Barack Obama beat Hillary Clinton for the ninth and tenth straight time last night, with blowouts in Wisconsin and Hawaii. Needless to say, this means nothing. As Clinton strategist Mark Penn explained yesterday, Wisconsin has a lot of independent voters, so it doesn't really matter. And Hawaii is practically Obama's home state, so it obviously doesn't matter.

Anyway, as Penn said recently, "winning Democratic primaries is not a qualification or a sign of who can win the general election." It's apparently not even a sign of who can win the Democratic nomination — at least not when the victories are Obama's.

The Clinton spin machine has been consistent about this. Nebraska, Idaho and Utah didn't matter because they were deep-red states. South Carolina, Louisiana and Georgia didn't matter because they had large percentages of black voters. Maine and Washington didn't matter because caucuses aren't truly representative. Maryland and Virginia didn't matter because Obama was expected to win there. For a moment, it looked like Missouri might matter when the networks called it for Hillary — her campaign quickly bragged about winning a "closely contested toss-up state" — but the networks were wrong.

In Bram Stoker’s original version of Dracula, the vampire not only had to have a stake through the heart, but the mouth had to be stuffed with garlic, and then removed and then the body burned and the ashes mixed with....

Just sayin’ here..

What’s that lazy bitch doing sitting in a doorway? She needs to get up off her ample rear end and start panhandling some serious cash.

"Ah ain't no ways tahrd..."

You should hear her supporters on some of the leftie sites. They've gotten all of these talking points down pat. Now the only states which matter are Texas and Ohio, both states where the O is polling well.

But the article has lots of truth to it. Every single state that Obama won, the Clinton campaign dismissed for one reason or other. What will they do when there are no states left and this process is over?

Oh, I forgot, at that point, Bill Clinton starts cornering super-delegates and strong arms them. Then at the convention, Hillary wins.

Yeah - I can sense that is coming down the pipe - but what happens to Hillary when the 95% of the 15% of voters she thought she could count on (i.e., Black voters) decide to sit on their hands in November? Don’t get me wrong, it will be fun to watch, but...

wow, it’s nice to see someone at TIME tell the Clintonista scumbags to STFU.

Is Michael Grunwald part of the major TIME family of Grunwalds? or is the name just a coincidence??

I thought Mandy Grunwald, daughter of big-shot Grunwald, was Shrillary’s BFF...... maybe there’s a nice family divide there, or are they unrelated?

Oh MAN... I have to pinch myself.

I have never seen the MSM unload on the Clintonistas like this.

It’s a good thing that smoking is outlawed almost everywhere these days. Ashtrays would be making sonic booms all over the place.

I remember back during the impeachment warm up when Clinton passed the word to the Senate — I’m not going down alone... and the thought of all those purloined FBI files trickled into their memories.

How many of them are on the big heavy Dem super-delegates, I have no idea. But I know this. If there is a weapon she can use, she will use it.
