It’s hard to see how Lott could be in jeopardy as regards the instant case, since Delaughter never got a federal appointment.
But then, there might be OTHER cases involving Scruggs’s corruptly influencing Lott. Wouldn’t it be a hoot if Dickie should cop a plea, in exchange for damaging info about Trent!

Well, if Trent Lott’s aides said so, then it must be true. I’m sure Lott resigned because on January 3, 2008 would have been spent 35 years in Congress, and he didn’t want to make a career out of politics.
