Hail the pioneers which made this possible:

China is all in a funk because of this. You’d think they’d understand the need for defensive weapons systems, given that they are one paranoid nation and people. But, then again, they are pissed because now they know they’ll not enjoy a cake walk when they initiate hostilities against the US. And, bet on it, for years China has been gearing up to fight the US.

Right. Their satellites are the first to be destroyed when the real hostility breaks out.

$30 Mil would be a drop in the bucket, compared to what the US would have had to fork out, if the satellite had come down in a populated area...of *any* country.

Thank you for reminding everyone who started it all.

I donot see the main stream media remembering to thank "The Big Boss Man" for his vision and foresight, but it is good that we do.

This would be really painful to those liberals who ridiculed and savaged Ronald Reagan and Edward Teller for pushing Strategic Defense Initiative(Star Wars.) They said it would never work. Well, it works fine and well.

The stature of these two men grows and grows with time.

I tend to believe that’s the way the Dems want it. Notice how they would rather spend billions on first responders and not so much on prevention than the other way around.

$30m space hit

Oh, I see--people are against missile defense because of the EXPENSE.

I stopped subscribing to Scientific American when they turned Edward Teller's obituary into a hit piece on him. Such low class.

" flew above it and then descended before impact at a closing speed of 22,000mph to ensure that the debris was forced down to Earth."

"When the Chinese carried out an anti-satellite missile test in January last year, thousands of pieces of debris remained in space."

Now THERE'S a bit of information I wasn't aware of .... go above and come down to force debris into the atmosphere to burn up.

WE are the big dogs, y'all.

We have surprises for them that will NEVER even be talked about on FR. The American people can no longer be trusted to know their own strength. Half of this Nation would sell out for a debt payoff.

I always wonder where they get these huge costs for military operations. Do they include the personnel and operating costs of the units involved? Costs that would be paid no matter what they were doing. Or is the SM-3 $30 million a copy?

Very cool, I kept wondering if the impact/explosion would actually force pieces further out and hang there in orbit. It crossed my mind that it needed to be hit form the other side but doubted it could be done.

Did anyone hear what ship shot it down?

I wish it WAS painful for the liberals who ridiculed strategic missile defense. It should be. But it’s not.

Liberals don’t have any honor, nor any integrity, which would cause them pain if they were honest about this situation. And Carl Levin is STILL doing his worst to weaken our armed forces, as he has been since RR’s days. And tell the editors at the NYT to go piss up a rope while you’re at it.

GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.
