Barack Obama has ratcheted up his attacks on NAFTA, but a senior member of his campaign team told a Canadian official not to take his criticisms seriously, CTV News has learned.
Both Obama and Hillary Clinton have been critical of the long-standing North American Free Trade Agreement over the course of the Democratic primaries, saying that the deal has cost U.S. workers' jobs.
Within the last month, a top staff member for Obama's campaign telephoned Michael Wilson, Canada's ambassador to the United States, and warned him that Obama would speak out against NAFTA, according to Canadian sources.
The staff member reassured Wilson that the criticisms would only be campaign rhetoric, and should not be taken at face value.
But Tuesday night in Ohio, where NAFTA is blamed for massive job losses, Obama said he would tell Canada and Mexico "that we will opt out unless we renegotiate the core labour and environmental standards."

It would be stupid to renegotiate NAFTA anyway. Keep in mind that we get oil from both Canada and Mexico. And that is just for starters.

This is Ohio politics, meant for the sheeple. Last I heard Ohio has a trade SURPLUS with Canada.
Wow, so Hillary is openly against that which her husband signed?
He’s slick. Hopefully the sheeple will see through this empty suit.
What about Mexico? The Fascist say we have to bring Mexicans into the United States because there is no opportunity in Mexico. Yet the fascist liberals say NAFTA has sucked millions of US jobs. So I am to believe a rational Mexican turns down a good job (supposedly exported from the US) in Mexico, pays some Coyote thousand of dollars to cross the boarder, to take a low paying job in the US that no US citizen wants.
What do these liberals think I am?
LOL ... the Liberals must think you are as nuts as they are to believe any of this crap. Its all political theater that means nothing. They want to make everything sound so bad that you have no choice but to embrace the CHANGE but the CHANGE thats comin is gonna suck up all the CHANGE you got and then some.
Someone tell Hillary. Maybe she’ll use this against him. I want to see more fighting. ;-)
Wow- it just keeps piling up, doesn’t it?
I wonder what the voters in Ohio would think of this?
Just boob bait for the moonbats.
BTTT
They won’t... They are fainting over him, he is the messiah of change, He is the only truth and light in these troubling times, He is all things to all people.
Has anyone seen or heard this on any of the news outlets?
