I gave the president my book. He raised an eyebrow. "Who wrote this for ya, Geldof?" he said without looking up from the cover. Very dry. "Who will you get to read it for you, Mr. President?" I replied. No response.

Why must we have ‘Time’ crap posted?????
Actually, I suggest you read the article. It’s pretty good and Geldof walks away being quite respectful and with a new understand on the President.
i’ll second that. but, liberals love welfare, and bush seems more than willing to dole it out.
Because it’s good to get different perspectives.
Anyway, who cares about the publication, the article is what’s significant. And this article happens to be pretty good.
It’s good to see what “those” people are writing anyway. And this one happens to be good. If Ed Morrisey’s posting it on Hot Air I guess it can’t be thaaaat liberal.
Good article actually. I’ve always respected Geldof even if he’s a bit of a nutcase in some ways. He seems to have a respect for the President as well.

That funny right there I don’t care who you are. LOL
Ignorance is a choice.....
Interesting read. Geldolf seems to go from “Bush is great when it comes to Africa” and then he swings dramatically to “but don’t forget that he’s eeeevvilll and likes to kill Iraqi children and torture their parents”...back to “but he seems like such a nice guy”. A kind of split personality piece.
>> Its pretty good and Geldof walks away being quite respectful
Well, it’s clear from reading this that they guy Bob Geldorf really respects and loves is... Bob Geldorf.
As with most people, they tend to believe that their opinions are correct. But he doesn’t go into any hysterical rants on Iraq. He says he disagrees and that’s fine. But he does it i a respectful way and actually declines to get into it woth Bush as he doesn’t want it to overshadow Bush’s work in Africa which is Geldof’s life’s work. I thought it was a quite respectful article and he is very thankful for the work Bush has done in Africa.

Thanks for that...private profanity is always better than public...;-)
Yes, it is.
Our good natured President can both give and take. He probably enjoyed it, too.
With out a doubt good natured banter like this is what makes the day go by.
Very good article.
Sure, Geldorf is sometimes critical. He’s writing in first-person, and his opinions are authentically his. If he doesn’t agree with the President on some issues, that’s fine. None of us agree on everything.
On Africa, he understands, because he’s been there, and he knows the problems and the dangers to the rest of the world if those problems aren’t addressed.
On Iraq, he’s less well-informed. He doesn’t “get it” — yet. Like Bush, I believe that history will take care of that.
