"If people find that controversial, then I would just refer them to the Sermon on the Mount, which I think is, in my mind, for my faith, more central than an obscure passage in Romans. That's my view. But we can have a respectful disagreement on that."

....Matt. 5:12 Rejoice, and be exceeding glad: for great [is] your reward in heaven: for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

So here Christ Himself makes the prophets Moses being the first one, one and the same as the Gospel. Moses' writings and the other prophets are from which we are instructed what God has to say about this practice.

Which specific legal benefits of marriage is he referring to...paying extra taxes?

No. It would be the right to get your hands on an estate. Theoretically your estate could be dissapated among people who have no blood relation to you within one generation.

Wouldn't a will take care of this issue? After all, some people even leave millions of dollars to their pets. It seems like a very weak argument that just doesn't necessitate redefining marriage.

Think about it. This nonsense about not being able to visit a partner in the hospital is just that -- nonsense. You want to provide for a partner after your death? Buy an insurance policy. You want to get insurance for your partner through your employer? Done.

What's left? Rights of inheritance.

Your estate goes to your child. Your child enters into a same sex domestic partnership. Through a legal fiction, your estate may endure (likely not), but it will be enjoyed by people who have no blood relation to you whatsoever.

And this, in my opinion, is the true objective of this movement.

Thanks for posting. Romans 1:18-32

is very pertinent to today.

Note that you are not allowed to call Obama on it, or ask him any questions...

http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/2008/03/04/2008-03-04_angry_barack_obama_bombarded_by_media.html

“Come on! I just answered, like, eight questions,” Obama, looking surprised, told shouting reporters as he fled the room. “We’re running late.”

ROTFLOL....too funny......

Verses 21 and 22 in Romans chapter 1 apply so well to Obama.. (He was referring to verse 24)

For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became futile in their speculations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Professing to be wise, they became fools...

That’s what I figured. All of the issues could easily be addressed by already existing legal avenues, or ones that would be quite reasonable...but it always comes down to money and power...in this case money.

Not necessarily. His views are totally consistent with those of his church, the United Church of Christ, that he’s “attended for 20 years.” The denomination is saturated with this theology. They are not just weak on inerrancy — they actively oppose the idea.

Never mind truth -that racist stuff is for the red staters, who think that a horse hair in a bottle of water will turn into an asp.

Well stated :-) -— yes, the faux reality of the left is just amazing and we can see the disasterous impact it is having on America. How much more can America stand, without economic, cultural and security erosion to the point of third-world status ???

According to Obama, some pigs/swines are more equal than others: you all can be strictly gay so long as I can try anything myself of yours. The politics of benefits rears its hypocritical head again.

Here’s the cited verse in context. I am a student of the Bible, and have often taught Women’s Bible Studies at my church. The first chapter of
Romans is one of the more crucial chapters of one of the most important books in the New Testament. Once you read this section, you will see why. It foretell what happens to those who reject God.

“God’s Wrath Against Mankind
Romans 1:18The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of men who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities—his eternal power and divine nature—have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that men are without excuse.

21For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like mortal man and birds and animals and reptiles.

24Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator—who is forever praised. Amen.

26Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. 27In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.

28Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done. 29They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31they are senseless, faithless, heartless, ruthless. 32Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them.” (NIV)

“well the good news is that this means he’s not a muslim.”

I wondered if anyone heard him talking at a town hall meeting in Parma OH on Sat.
He said: “”A certain dose of fear is healthy,” Obama said.

“We have to understand Al Qaeda would happily blow up this building, and all the women and children inside.”

He said America under the Bush administration had lost sight of the fact that there were likely no more than 50,000 jihadists willing to wage war on America, but some 1.3 billion Muslims trying to live their lives, whose view of the U.S. is less sympathetic because of the invasion and occupation of Iraq.

He said an Obama presidency would work to regain the trust of Muslims worldwide with Washington-led aid programs in Muslim countries.”

But, he went on to say, he would build schools in Muslin countries, etc., etc.
Was wondering if anyone heard the rest of his talk.
It scared me, let me tell you, all he was going to do for Muslins.
Hello Barack Huessin Obama, shouldn’t we build schools here.
Here is where I got the quote.
