Ten Mexicans may be among the dead in the Colombian Attack [in Ecuador]

Some ten Mexican citizens may be among the dead from the Colombian military attack carried out last Saturday against a FARC camp in Ecuador, confirmed today the Coordinating Minister of Internal Security, Gustavo Larrea. Larrea said to news reporters that there could be "more than ten, a numerous group" of the at least 24 people who died in Operation Fenix, in which died the number two of the rebel Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), "Raul Reyes".

The minister said that they were a group of professors and students from the Autonomous National University of Mexico (Unam) who had "come to do research on the only insurgent force which survives in South America today". At least 5 Mexican families have contacted the authorities in this country to find out if their relatives are among the dead in the attack, for which Ecuadorian forensic experts will do the pertinent tests to determine this, explained Larrea.

Lucia Andrea Monett, Mexican citizen, 21 years old and a student of philosophy, was one of the three survivors found by Ecuadorian troops in the FARC camp after the Colombian attack. The father of the young girl, Jorge Monett, was expected to arrive today in the Ecuadorian capital to see his daughter, who is being treated at the military hospital in Quito for wounds suffered during the Colombian military operation.

Monett has been thankful for the humanitarian attention given by the Ecuadorian government to his daughter and explained that she left Mexico to attend a Bolivarian Congress which was held last week in Quito. "We understand that her situation is one of humanitarian treatment and that as soon as she is in good health she will be handed over to Mexican authorities for her return to Mexico", said Monett, whose daughter is a student of philophy and letters at UNAM. He assured that his daughter "was not armed", but rather was a civilian who was doing research, according to local media. She was found wounded alongside Colombians Martha Perez and Doris Bohorquez, who have also been admitted to the Quito Military Hospital. The Ecuadorian Minister of Defense, Wellington Sandoval, said yesterday that when the three had recovered they would be placed into the hands of Ecuadorian justice, since they were "armed foreigners captured inside Ecuadorian territory".

The three women were visited Wednesday by Valeria Ganvoni, regional delegate from the International Red Cross (CICR), who said she would comfirm their state of health and the treatment they were receiving and assist with contacting their families.

Note that the only survivors of the attack are female.

The mexican university says that they had not sent any researchers to Ecuador, meaning that they were there on their own.

Hey , maybe the US government can hire the Colombian Army to patrol the US southern border for 6 months? They seem to know what they are doing while our lads are out to lunch.

Research, huh? Sounds like a couple of rebellious little commie loving sluts who “wanted to keep it real” by sleeping with the enemy. Bet those “che” t-shirts came in handy after that 500 pounder dropped in unexpectedly.

I’m thinking that the Colombians cleaned up after the airstrike, which is why only females were left alive.

They obviously entered the camp, they got Reyes’ computer and hard drive, which obviously survived the airstrike.

According to the hard drive, they were there with Correa’s knowledge (the Ecuadorian president). Actually, if a group of Mexican students on a field trip could find Reyes, its pretty plain that he wasn’t hiding from his friends.

Note also that the Mexicans were in Quito for a “Bolivarian” conference, which is what the Chavists call themselves. So the Mexicans are Chavez groupies. Hey, they are philosophy students, what else would they be?

Correa is saying that FARC was getting ready to free Betancourt, had it not been for this attack. They’ve only had her for 5 years, but this attack is the hold up. Actually, if they really want to let her go, they’ll just give her cab fare to downtown Caracas. Its not that difficult.

“She told me that mexicans are not very well liked in south america.”

Mexicans are not very well liked anywhere on the planet. A more miscreant group of people I’ve never seen. Oh, before I’m labeled a racist for saying that: Mexican is a nationality, not a race.

Well, I’ve been told that palestinians, jews, and australians are also not very well liked either. At some point fairly recently, australians have passed up americans as the rudest and most arrogant people on the planet.

I was impressed when I heard that. I guess the american dollar isnt’ the only thing about america that is slipping.

Thats is completely contrary to my first hand dealing with Aussies. I don't know them all, of course. ;)

Excuse me?

I notice you didn’t try to refute the claim for americans though. What’s up with that?

We all know Americans...what's to refute? I was just adding what I know of Aussies.
