Report links hate groups, anti-immigrant activism

NEW YORK -- Anti-immigrant sentiment is fueling nationwide increases in the number of hate groups and the number of hate crimes targeting Latinos, according to a watchdog group.

The Southern Poverty Law Center, in a report being released today titled "The Year in Hate," said it counted 888 hate groups in its latest tally, up from 844 in 2006 and 602 in 2000.

The most prominent of the organizations added to the list, the Federation for American Immigration Reform, or FAIR, vehemently rejected the "hate group" label and questioned the law center's motives.

FAIR said the center was using smear tactics to boost donations and stifle legitimate debate on immigration.

"Their banner may be 'Stop the Hate' but it's really 'Stop the debate,' " said FAIR's president, Dan Stein. "Apparently you can't even articulate an argument for immigration reform without being smeared."

The center's critique of FAIR was endorsed by a major Latino group, the National Council of La Raza. The council's vice president for advocacy and legislation, Cecilia Muñoz, said FAIR's leaders were polished in public forums but represented "a very unsavory set of views."

Like La Raza isn’t totally unsavory! They’re fascistic in their racist outlook and practices.

Wonder if FreRepublic is included? lol

You can bet your sweet bippy that the Minutemen are as well as Lou Dobbs and Tom Tancredo, though they are not groups. Oh yes, I would add Glen Beck, whose program I'm listening to this very moment.

This article really belongs on the comic pages.
Southern Poverty Law is a far-out left wing pro-illegal alien advocacy group.

Nowhere in this opinion piece masquerading as a “study” does it mention some of the biggest racist groups, like Mecha, Mexicanos sin Fronteras, LULAC, and La Raza, which BTW means “the RACE”.

What is disturbing is how the leftist MSM has grabbed on it as a serious piece of work. Anybody want to start a pool as to the date and time that the Obama or Clinton campaigns first reference it?

Yeah, of course, the liberals will now attempt to attach “hate groups” to opposition illegal immigration. Can David Duke and the skin heads be far behind?

So we have a report of lies, traced to a rascist group called “La Raza”? Yet the LA Slimes reports on this as if it were bonafide fact.

“The Southern Poverty Law Center”

Pandering harlots to the racialist industry.

This is simply crap and they are trying to get on the gravy train. Soon we will have affirmative action for illegal invaders is we don’t do something about the NAACP, the SOuthen Poverty etc. LaRaza and other minority racist groups. They have outlived their purpose.

NONE of this is about anti-any ethnic group. Its not about immigrants. Its about illegal invaders, border sneaks and their procurers in the federal government and private industry. The majority of these broder sneaks come from Mexico but I don’t like them wherever they are from.

“said it counted 888 hate groups”

I’d love to see their definition of “hate group”

What a bunch of Moroons.

Should check this out. What a hoot.

http://www.splcenter.org/index.jsp We (Vermont) have 1. Didn't even know we had a chapter of the Ku Klux Klan in the southern part of the state.

Of course, if you check several different states, many of the so called "hate" groups are counted individually and duplicated, such as that radical, and very dangerous, Council of Conservative Citizens.

Some of their listings are so foolish as to be hilarious: Groups and categories:

Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints -- General Hate

Nation of Islam--Black Seperatist

Catholic Family News/Catholic Family Ministries,--Radical Traditionalisst Catholic

Jewish Defense League --General Hate

Council of Conservative Citizens--White Nationalist

And of course the Southern Poverty Law Center is a legal org. so far to the left as to make ObamaMama and Hitlery, appear downright conservative.

More of our tax dollars at work!!!
