Dem Dirty Tricks in Florida [Greg Pollowitz]

So, why do they really want a mail-in revote in Florida? From Dan Gelber's blog (Gelber is Minority Leader of the Florida House of Representatives):

The major reason is that the revote, in addition to making sure Florida voters are heard, should also be a party building exercise. Returned ballots (because of address changes) will help us dramatically improve our voter database. If appropriate we could also ask Democrats to voluntarily give us their emails and telephone numbers so we can communicate with them in November and beyond. All this would help us considerably in the general election. If, however, the state oversees the election, Florida Democrats would be footing the bill without getting the attendant advantages the revote offers.

Could you (or someone) explain to me how the mechanics of this would work? Would the Dems request a database of registered Dem voters from the State? (Could the state give them a printout instead? LOL!).

What info would be turned over? Is this legal? The author talks about independents....could they legally be included?

Do voters in FLA even register by party? If so, could a Republican who’s already voted go in right now and switch to Dem just to “Pull a Rush” in the Dem re-vote? Could that Republican then switch back for the general election?

If so, I think Republicans should start re-registering now, vote for Obama in the re-vote, then switch back to McCain in the general.

Yes, Florida has a closed primary and our voter registration cards show party of choice.

Very good point. The opportunity for manipulation is staggering. What did you think of Timeout's idea - suggesting that Florida Republicans re-register as Dems and then vote in the redo (likely for Obama)? They simply change their affilliation back to Rep for the November election. I think we Floridians could create a totally new demographic for the talking heads to talk about - Florida Republicans voting in the Democratic primary.

Let me fix the error...If so, I think Republicans should start re-registering now, vote for Hillary in the re-vote, than switch back to McCain in the general. Now it is correct.
