If you don’t like it, then don’t click on the story.
It’s pretty easy if you try.

was there a danger that the child would cook to death or freeze? It was in the winter... Christmas time.... you know the time when people do charitable things like this woman and her children who got out of the car to put money in a Salvation Army kettle.
The mother said that the weather was sleeting and it was safter to leave the 2 year old in the car sleeping, than to wake her, haul her across an icy parking lot to make their charitable donation.
Good deeds never go unpunished.

She was 30 feet away. The same distance between my refrigerator and my TV. I have done that as a parent.
Arrest me.

Unfortunately, the three other little girls, horrified to see their mother arrested, were not taken into protective custody. If true, that is worse than what the mother did.

"You are not allowed to abandon a child in an automobile." This child was in a locked, alarmed vehicle 30 feet away, much more secure than a child 100 ft. away in her/his yard with a parent watching out the window.
Give me a break.

"By #1CTYankee's criteria, you would need to have your children on a leash or carry them in a backpack until they're school age... to be safe from arrest...because, otherwise, the distance to constitute 'abandonment' is totally the prerogative of the officer on scene. That would be a scary premise..." I'll assume you read the article, that would be just that, not my comments.
Are you new here or just confused?

"The article doesnt say what month this happened. Being Chicago, was there a danger that the child would cook to death or freeze?" It was around Christmas time.
I think the child was dressed properly to sustain five minutes in a car.
Better than outside in the cold wouldn't you say?

If true, that is worse than what the mother did.All accounts appear to match up. The mother did nothing wrong.
