This Trent Lott thing is interesting. Lott resigns on short notice just before Scruggs is indicted. It sure looks suspicious. Any Mississippians out there care to let the rest of know what the scuttlebut is?

I recall that Trent Lott, majority leader, seemed to be making the presentation of the case against Bill Clinton in the impeachment trial in the US Senate quite difficult.
