Uncle Jeremiah -- Barack Obama and his cookie-cutter race huckster.
National Review ^ | March 15, 2008 10:15 AM | Mark Steyn

Posted on 03/15/2008 1:48:04 PM PDT by Ernest_at_the_Beach

The Reverend Jeremiah Wright thinks that, given their treatment by white America, black Americans have no reason to sing “God Bless America.” “The government gives them the drugs, builds bigger prisons, passes a three-strike law and then wants us to sing ‘God Bless America.’ No, no, no, God damn America,” he told his congregation. “God damn America for treating our citizens as less than human.”

I’m not a believer in guilt by association, or the campaign vaudeville of rival politicians insisting this or that candidate disassociate himself from remarks by some fellow he had a 30-second grip’n’greet with a decade ago. But Jeremiah Wright is not exactly peripheral to Barack Obama’s life. He married the Obamas and baptized their children. Those of us who made the mistake of buying the senator’s last book, The Audacity of Hope, and assumed the title was an ingeniously parodic distillation of the great sonorous banality of an entire genre of blandly uplifting political writing discovered circa page 127 that in fact the phrase comes from one of the Reverend Wright’s sermons. Jeremiah Wright has been Barack Obama’s pastor for 20 years — in other words, pretty much the senator’s entire adult life. Did Obama consider God Damn America as a title for his book but it didn’t focus-group so well?

************************snip***************************

Yet since his early twenties he’s sat week after week listening to the ravings of just another cookie-cutter race huckster.

What is Barack Obama for? It’s not his “policies,” such as they are. Rather, Senator Obama embodies an idea: He’s a symbol of redemption and renewal, and a lot of other airy-fairy abstractions that don’t boil down to much except making upscale white liberals feel good about themselves ..................

Anyone notice how white the Rev Jeremiah’s skin is?
I wonder if both of his parants are black?

MOST IMPORTANT -— Obama never says what statements he is against. Wright has so many statements that are appalling. Which ones are Obama against. Obama says he never heard Wright say those statements when he spent 20 years in church. Which statements had he never heard before, exactly. I think he is parsing. I think he as heard most of those statements in one form or another.

His wife has never been proud of her country before. Is Obama saying that she never heard her pastor say any discouraging words about America?

“Between them, Mr. and Mrs. Obama earn $480,000 a year”

$375,000 for Michelle from a Hospital where he earmarks $1million. What a terrible place to live, huh Michelle?

You two and the old Philly bigot have it real tough don’t you?

You can put a fork in this turkey.

Time to open up the Clinton closet and start pulling out the skeletons...
‘cause we all know the Clintons have more “baggage” than Delta Airlines. LOL

The true demise of our sovereignty in a nutshell.

Feel good has replaced common sense as the number one concern.

(IF LOVIN' THE U.S. IS WRONG) I DON'T WANT TO HEAR WRIGHT
Tune: "(If Lovin' You Is Wrong) I Don't Want to Be Right" Original

If lovin' the U.S. is wrong
I don't want to hear Wright
If joinin' his church means hearin' his hatred
I'd up and change belongin' tonight

Obama, your pastor says it's a shame
It's a downright disgrace
America's problems, all the blame
Is the fault of the white man's race

Barack, you say it's the future
And healing is in your plan
But if you can't leave this kind of hate
Believe me, yes we can

If lovin' the U.S. is wrong
I don't want to hear Wright
If lovin' the U.S. is wrong
I don't want to hear Wright

Am I wrong to smell
The sewage he loves to spew?
Knowin' you wanna lead, then why do you waffle
Defendin' you know who?

And am I wrong to question
Your ability to unite,
Knowin' you got someone there at church
Dividin' black and white?

And are you wrong to give your tithe
To a racist man?
And is he wrong for tryin' to get God
Not to bless but instead to damn?

If lovin' the U.S. is wrong
I don't want to hear Wright
If lovin' the U.S. is wrong
I don't want to hear Wright . . .

Are you wrong to give your tithe
To a racist man?
And is he wrong for tryin' to get God
Not to bless but instead to damn?

If lovin' the U.S. is wrong
I don't want to hear Wright
If lovin' the U.S. is wrong
I don't want to hear Wright

I don't want to hear Wright
If it means hearin' his hatred
I don't want to hear Wright
If it means black against white . . .

“Between them, Mr. and Mrs. Obama earn $480,000 a year”

So, let me get this right: The Obamas make at least half a million a year (including book royalties), yet are whining about not having “enough”. At the same time, Obama has promised to raise the taxes of the millions and millions of middle class American citizens who make only a fraction of what the Obamas make because we aren't paying our fair share?

Well, we know one thing for sure - Clinton has - for 40+ years - been associating with the same Marxist race-baiters in Chicago (and elsewhere) that Obama has been associating with for 20+ years.

Let's see - they both have the "charismatic" radical community organizer, Saul Alinsky in common. Of course, he is only the tip of the iceberg. Jim Wallis (SoJourners) - the Communist supporting "spiritual leader" the 'RATS chose to help them take back Jesus from "the Christian Right", is HIMSELF, closely connected to all of them.

This is going to be so much fun from here on out to November!

Zero, via a religion write-off I presume?

Welcome to the world of rhetoric displacing common sense as a goal.

The more personal freedom is lost to the promotion of what is best for the whole, the more common sense disappears.

Great observation. Since "O" is half white - and the rev is even lighter than "O", how much is the rev.? And "O"'s wife has white features - I have been wondering if these people are VERY conflicted about their color.

We know "O" was = and finally went searching for his "black identity" - pushing aside his white grandparents who housed, fed and raised him.

I wonder if they aren't seething deep inside because, as the rev. says, they "aren't black enough" - which they got from the blacks, not the whites, and yet not "white' enough to "pass"?

Betcha a psychiatrist would have a ball with them,,,

This one got ugly fast, a thing of some curiosity to those of us who have been reading about the racist antics of Wright for quite awhile now. This sort of media blitz is, after all, what the Clinton machine does best. But I think it would have been a story in any case at some point (certain members of the MSM making sure that didn't happen until Hussein was sworn in).

The thing is, Hussein has stated that he repudiates the words (nicely dancing about specifically which words) and not the man. Can one imagine a white politician taking that nuanced position with respect to, say, David Duke? And getting away with it?

This is a body blow to Hussein's campaign, not a knockout punch. Alone it might have been spun away, but coupled with Michelle Obama's Princeton-flavored condescension toward the country that oppressed her all the way to an Ivy League degree, it really does serve to put a very nasty blot on the character of someone who had supposedly transcended the race issue. How long that blot has been there and how deep it really goes will be examined in detail in the coming weeks.

Expect one thing in addition, however. Obama's press gang will be digging up every nutcase white cult leader in an effort to blur the issue with a contrived moral equivalency. It's already started.
