Clinton Tries to Keep Plan for Two Revotes Alive
The New York Times ^ | March 19, 2008 | John M. Broder

Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton’s hopes of ending the primaries with game-changing victories from new contests in Florida and Michigan grew dim on Tuesday as Florida officially scuttled plans for a new vote and Michigan lawmakers appeared far from a deal.

--snip--

Political analysts said Mrs. Clinton had far more to lose from the deadlock than Mr. Obama, which explains why she has pressed harder for revotes. Mrs. Clinton trails in elected delegates and the popular vote. With 10 contests remaining, she will find it virtually impossible to close the gaps without new elections in Florida and Michigan...

Have no fear. The Clintons are nothing if not resourceful. Her bag of tricks is far from empty.

Hillary doesn't want a Florida revote and the state has said there will not be one.
She just claims she wants a revote for PR.

What she does want is for the original Florida vote to be accepted.
It is in her favor and much better for her than she can expect in any revote.

The delegate count from the original vote is:

Hillary - 105

Obama - 67

Edwards - 13

If Michigan has a revote and Florida does not there will be a lot of pressure to accept the original Florida vote.

After all - how can the democrats possibly exclude only the primary vote from Florida after the craziness following the 2000 election?

Back then their chant was “Let Every Vote Count.”

In 2008 they cannot get away chanting “Let Every Vote Count - Except Florida's.”

Hillary’s only help is to destroy Obama...BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY!

Let's not forget that the super delegates (i.e. party hacks) will still have a big say in who get the nomination. They're going to be looking for a candidate to beat McCain. The way Obama is going, they may just give Hillary the nod.

I would normally agree, but I'm starting to wonder. I think the SS Clinton may have hit a bigger iceberg than they initially thought. We're rapidly approaching the point of no return for this campaign, and even a clever, last minute Clintonian trick may only serve to shatter the Democratic party. A point, no doubt, the Democrats are acutely aware of. She needs Obama to catastrophically self destruct within the next month, and he's simply too slippery an opponent to give her that kind of gift.

The Dems absolutely have to have FL in their column in November. The DNC will be under a lot of pressure to seat the delegates, revote or no revote. That means Hillary wins. And Michigan? Unfair as it sounds, I have heard a lot of talking head Dems on TV argue that because Obama voluntarily removed his name from the ballot, Hillary deserves all of Michigan’s delegates.

“While a redo would be an excellent way to solve it, there’s a little problem of about $12 million,” Mr. Conyers said.

AAhhhh. A congressman concerned about spending someone else's money! What a change! And such a piddling amount, too. Absolutely refreshing, I tell you.

Ah, it's even worse than that in this laughing-stock state of Michigan that I live in. The current plan is to exclude everyone who voted in the Republican primary from voting in a new primary. The problem is there were 280,000 Democrats & independents who crossed over who would now not be able to vote again in June (from News 8 in Grand Rapids, 3/18/08). LOL. Jenny and her ass-clowns in our legislature can't do anything right. Meanwhile, the state bleeds due to the wounds inflicted by failed liberal policies. Last one out, turn off the lights. Michigan is finished.

I bet they voted for McCain didn't they?

Even with the revotes, she could not catch Obama in the pledge delegate count.

She is done, but only the notion that she can steal the nomination with the super-delegates keeps her candidacy alive with her supporters and MSM.

That is why the longer this goes, the more bitter Obama's people are going to get toward her.

I heard on O'Reilly last night, some of the Leftist blogs are really tearing into the Hillary people.

They see this campaign as nothing more as an effort to destroy Obama's chance to win in the Fall.

The way Obama is going, they may just give Hillary the nod.

Obama kept his base intact with the speech he gave and no way that the Democrats lose that support by stealing the nomination from him.

He did so because the DNC said it would not count.

Now, it seems that Michigan is going to have a re-vote which actually helps Obama.

Clintons don’t need or want a revote. They want Florida and Michigan seated as they are now. Continuing to ask for a revote just keeps it alive so that the two delegations will be ultimately seated.
