GOP ad makers salivate at potential in Wright comments
Raw Story ^ | March 19, 2008 | by Nick Juliano

Have Republicans found their golden ticket to the White House this year?

The same GOP ad-men who turned John Kerry's Vietnam service into a political liability and tied decorated veteran Max Cleland (who lost three limbs fighting the Viet Cong) to terror leader Osama bin Laden believe the Rev. Jerimiah Wright has made their jobs much, much easier this year.

Some are even starting to believe that Barack Obama, who attended Wright's church for two decades, would be an easier Democrat to beat than Hillary Clinton, who's been a catalyst for right-wing vitriol going on two decades now.

Don't expect to see an "I'm John McCain and I approved this message" tag at the end of any ads replaying some of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright's most incendiary comments ("US of KKK-A," "God damn America," et cetera). The Republican candidate's campaign says it won't make Wright an issue, and Clinton's camp has remained mum on the former pastor as the Democratic primary trudges on.

But an Obama-McCain general election likely would see attack ads from outside groups, so-called 527s, that have freer reign to launch anonymously funded attacks.

"I think it's an obligation of any opponent to use this issue, to make Reverend Wright a centerpiece of the campaign," Rep. Peter King (R-NY) tells Newsday.

"For months, Obama has been targeted by the equivalent of a virtual whisper campaign -- forwarded e-mails, right-wing bloggers and Free Republic message boards circulating false and scurrilous rumors about his religion and patriotism. Wright's comments could give the GOP machine an opportunity to amplify those whispers. Already a seemingly anonymous entity is circulating a YouTube video juxtaposing Obama and Wright's comments, which has received more than 30,000 hits in three days."

False and scurrilous rumors about his religion and patriotism? ROFLOL!!

Max Cleland (who lost three limbs fighting the Viet Cong)

He lost them fooling around with a grenade.

This author didn't waste any time killing his credibility.

According to Ann Coulter, Max Cleland lost his limbs in an accident, not combat:

Quite correct.

Max Cleland does NOT have the Purple Heart.

The Republican candidate's campaign says it won't make Wright an issue, and Clinton's camp has remained mum on the former pastor as the Democratic primary trudges on.

When a candidate's campaign is self destructing, the best thing for the opposition to do is just get out of the way.

The GOP has its own problem candidate.

Hard truth:

The way the GOP candidate stammers and fumbles his words, the more his age shows.

Just a few weeks ago, McCain made 2 slip-ups in this single video. He stumbles on the word dispirited and then replaces it with spirited. Then, he stumbles by calling himself a conservative liberal Republican and replaces it with conservative Republican.

Then, McCain ended this short speech by vowing to continue to infringe on and quell First Amendment rights, when he says that 527's should be outlawed.

McCain a 'Proud Liberal'? (Video)

On his recent Iraq trip, he had to be corrected by his handlers over another verbal blunder. He doesn't seem to know the difference between Sunni and Shi'ite factions.

You can bet, the Dems are collecting each and every one of these screw-ups and will use them to show up McCain as a doddering old man.

Recall when the concern over Perot's selection of his VP candidate, Adm. Stockdale, after Stockdale's extremely poor showing in the VP debate. The opposition raised the question, "Do you want this guy next in line should something happen to a President Perot?"

A few clips just before the election of a doddering and fumbling McCain are going to show up. Bet on it.

Recall the 'dive' off a stage candidate Dole took in '96? That fall raised questions about him.

Right or wrong, like it or not, the Dem Candidate will find a way to show up McCain's age. And McCain doesn't have the personality to come up with a response like Reagan gave, and McCain is several years older than Reagan was when Reagan nominated/elected.

The mention of Cleland and the grenade made me think of this:

If Max Cleland would have lost his limbs fooling around with a grenade at Fort Bragg North Carolina instead of in Viet Nam would the left still try to make him out to be a war hero? My guess is yes.....

“Have Republicans found their golden ticket to the White House this year?”

Barack McGovern Obama is finished. There won’t be any need for a “golden ticket” because his candidacy will be seen as a joke to us and a nightmare to the rat.

Obama has the time and energy to jet around America giving speeches extoling a glorious future of unity for our children.

But Obama didn’t have the time or energy to whisper in Wright’s ear that the Pastor’s been setting a bad example for our children.

It’s not hard to imagine what a poor president he would make.

The only way to get ahead in Chicago politics is to hang around the Black nationalist hatemongers. Why can’t people cut him a break? A fella has to make a living, don’t you think?

The wounds were not combat related, a requirement for awarding of the purple heart.

Kerry lost because of the video from his l971 Senate testimony.

The MSM tries hard to push history into their black hole, (just as they do with Saddam and Sons now), but with hard work and funding, that video made it past their firewall.

Now there's a bit of revisionist history....The way I heard it was that he was grabassing with a hand grenade and paid the price for it.
