Kind of ironic that the founder of a spicy-food chain would die from problems with the salivary glands.

gotta love PopeyesRoger that!
Just thinking about it has started the cravings that cause me to go there and pick up some chicken and , especially, red beans & rice.
I still make my red beans and rice the old-timey way (Monday in the South is red beans & rice day), but I like Popeye's far better.

Worst case of food poisoning I ever had in my life came from a Popeye’s in Virginia. I wanted to die I was so sick.

Mmmmm...Popeyes...
When he first started out and they were only in the New Orleans area, the chicken parts were huge, crispy and not as greasy as they are today. The other part of the great treat is the biscuit. It used to be almost twice the size and very buttery. Still deliciously tasty and greasy though. He sure knew how to live life and spend his money - very lavish lifestyle. He was definitely a rags to riches story. He had been sick with cancer for a little while now and the kind he had was very rare. No matter how much money you have, you go out the same as everybody else does. RIP

...especially, red beans & rice. Their Cajun Rice and Jambalaya are both awesome as well.
