Just maybe more progress will be made if average, fair-minded, decent people simply chose not to associate with -- and lend their credibility to -- haters, extremists or sowers of racial discord. Obama could have taken that simple path any time over the last 20 years. He chose not to.

Sums it up rather nicely.

i'm really sick of all the Obama lovers talking about how we need to have a "conversation about race". No we don't. We're supposed to be picking a president, I don't need a racial controversey just to benefit one liberal candidate.

Further, maybe some kids under 20 actually believe that we "never had this conversation", but that is absolute BS. We lived through riots, voting rights acts, affirmative action, school busing, desegregation, MLK, and a plethora of federal programs and anti-discrimination laws. I've been watching this racial conversation on TV since at least the early 1960's.
