Back in 04 I said here on FR that a likely 08 scenario could be McCain/Rice.
While I had long ago disabused myself of that notion becoming a real possibility, it seems to be here with us still.
I don't know how this will play, but I suppose it's better than Lieberman.

Absolutely not. McCain is liberal enough. Why the heck would we want a Clinton-style liberal on the ticket as well?

Rice is scum. They are making it harder and harder to vote Republican.

She’s not tough enough for the job of President. I’d rather take a chance on someone else.

It would be fun to hear the drive by’s convince the public that condi is not really black and she’s not really a woman.
To: bill1952
So the question becomes: Can a liberal dolk like McCain tolerate a conservative black woman for a running mate?

NO! IMO the Reps need to get as far away from the current situation as possible if they stand even a small chance in November.

If McCain does win, McCain needs to do what Bush failed to do -— bring in a whole new team and clean out the old.
Rice is part of the old. McCain needs to bring in new blood.
Otherwise, a McCain administration will just be more business as usual.

While conservatives generally like the idea of her running on a ticket with McCain, their only concern is her stand on abortion.I think my head just exploded.

I'm not at all happy with her at state.
I would love though to see the media attempt to make her "whiter" than B. Hussein.
I don't think its going to happen though, McCain's ego couldn't take the fact that Condi got any press at all........this is about John McCain and only John McCain, never lose sight of that.

I can no longer (though once did) think about Rice in the VP slot.

She is on record about a dozen times denying that she EVER wants to be president, under any circumstances. This is all on tape.
I find it hard to believe that she would want to jump in, with those denials out there on video.
State is no win job with an unpopular president, so I can’t really blame her there. Most of her best work is behind the scenes anyway.
In any case, I still have strong respect for her.
The party could do much, much worse.

If I had any money, I wouldn’t risk it on that bet. It does nothing for McCain. It might even turn off some of the mushy Democrat vote that makes up McCain’s base.

"Rice appeared for the first time this week at the so-called Wednesday meeting run by Grover Norquist"I sure hope she's not polluting herself with Grover Norquist!!!
I used to think she'd be good, but as of late I'm losing confidence in her and never ever had any in MucKain!!!
I don't much care anymore as I'm voting for a REAL "GANG-GREEN" infested Leftist... Ralph Nader!!! At least he doesn't claim to be some kind of conservative or Republican like Schwartzenswindler or McCain!!!

I think she would make a good VP for Obama, since they are both antisemites.
