I get the feeling that reply would be along the lines of, “See how evil those greedy insurance companies are? We can’t afford this, so obviously the country needs a new solution, run by the government.” Or something like that.

That explanation won’t hold water, IMO. If health care is so important, then she would have made sure those bills got paid before the other “less important” ones. However, it appears there are dozens and dozens of unpaid vendors. So this demonstrates a pattern of stiffing people, period, regardless of what industry they work in.
