S.F. fire house arsonist cuts pricey plea deal

Lance Farber, the fire-starting, tomato-tossing boyfriend of new San Francisco Planning Director John Rahaim, is out of jail - but only after the city took him to the cleaners.

Farber, who had been sitting in jail for almost six weeks on $1 million bail, pleaded guilty last week to one count of unlawfully and recklessly starting a fire and one count of vandalism with over $400 in damage.

The 47-year-old New Age chiropractor was accused of setting a bed on fire and tossing an open can of tomatoes through the city's historic fire chief's house - staining the walls - after an alcohol-fueled lovers' spat with Rahaim back in February. The newly arrived couple had been staying at the vacant residence at Mayor Gavin Newsom's invitation.

Firefighters put out the fire with a fire extinguisher and hose - but not before some of the embers burned holes in the bedroom carpet.

As a condition of the plea agreement that would free him from jail, the city insisted that Farber pay a whopping $50,761 in damages and go into rehab.

The Public Works Department bill, rounded out, included:

-- $10,720 for new carpet.

-- $19,500 to sand down the hardwood floors and stairs under the carpet - and repair water damage to walls from putting out the fire (plus another $1,800 for a supervisor to oversee the job).

-- $16,595 for repainting walls.

-- $2,100 for laborers.

Farber's attorney, Randall Knox, said his client is being fleeced and that the repairs were not nearly that extensive.

"This is way over the top," Knox said. "My understanding is they recarpeted all three floors of the house, and all this happened in just one back bedroom," Knox said.

I would have supervised the job for a $1,500 tops.

Firefighters put out the fire with a fire extinguisher and hose - but not before some of the embers burned holes in the bedroom carpet.

The Public Works Department bill, rounded out, included:

-- $10,720 for new carpet. I could redo a 3,000 sq ft house for that amount

-- $16,595 for repainting walls. I could paint a 3,000 sq ft house inside and out for that amount (plus shutters)

-- $2,100 for laborers. For doing what?

The MSM generally ignores queer domestic violence, while blaring the untrue “fact” that thousands of men beat their wives during the Super Bowl. No bias there, eh?/s

Yes! Don’t forget just how many thousands of housewives get beaten up by their drunken hubbies during Super Bowl weekend! You heard it right here on CNN.

San Fran Freako must be pretty dangerous if that wrought-iron gate door has a massive deadbolt in it.

A claymore right inside the door, would also be a *nice touch*, IMO.
