Actually he was chosen for us. McInsane’s support came from independents and democrats....

We had the wacko from Arkansas (lib), the Mormon (lib) and Fred in the race against him. The only conservative that was running was Fred, and the media refused to cover his campaign.

So we git stuck with the crazy one...

Fred Thompson. What a disapointment. This guy had a chance to be the frontrunner up here and was set up for it. He got the prime speaking spot at Mackinac Island's GOP conference. So many people were looking for an alternative to the then-frontrunners. He bombed. He spoke liked he was talked into running and not like he wanted the job.

I’m not going to let you get away with calling Romney a liberal. Even so, your point remains relatively unchanged.

And yes, Fred absolutely had the most conservative past of all the candidates. And Romney probably ran on the most conservative platform. So Fred was ignored and Romney attacked. Per usual for our pathetic media.

(As an aside, Romney won the Minnesota vote...not that that apparently meant anything.)
