Let me get this straight. In Texas, it’s legal for a 27 year old to marry a 17 year old, if the 17 year old’s parents give consent, but it’s a felony (punishable by up to 20 years in prison), if the 27 year old is a school teacher?

I’d say the laws in Texas need a little reconciling.

“I’d say the laws in Texas need a little reconciling.”

He was arrested for having sex with his student prior to their wedding. From this story he seems like a good candidate to benefit from prosecutorial discretion.

P.S., note the totally inaccurate headline.

"In Texas any sexual relationship between a teacher and a student at the same school is a second-degree felony."

In the article - it clearly states she went to the perp's school and they had sex on their first date...

She's a slut in addition to jail bait - and he's the fool.

That's an oh oh! -- 2nd degree felony...

He could have married her BEFORE having sex with her - with no problem...
But he got horny too soon -- she was jail bait by virtue of being a student in HIS school and therefore "untouchable"...BEFORE marriage.
