Her crime was to fall in love. She paid with her life ( Religion of Peace )
The Observer ^ | April 27 2008 | Afif Sarhan in Basra, Mark Townsend and Caroline Davies

Posted on 05/03/2008 12:19:54 PM PDT by george76

When 17-year old Rand Abdel-Qader met a British soldier in Basra, she dreamt of romance. But five months later she was murdered in a savage attack by her father. But there will be no trial: this was an 'honour killing'.

Rand Abdel-Qader, 17, told her closest friend that she was in love from the moment she set eyes on the young British soldier working alongside her in Basra, and she dreamed of a future with him.

It was an innocent infatuation but five months after Rand, a student of English at Basra University, met Paul, a 22-year-old soldier posted to southern Iraq, she was dead. She was stamped on, suffocated and stabbed by her father. Several brutal knife wounds punctured her slender, bruised body - from her face to her feet. He had done it, he proclaimed to the neighbours who soon gathered round, to 'cleanse his honour'.

And as Rand was put into the ground, without ceremony, her uncles spat on her covered corpse because she had brought shame on the family. Her crime was the worst they could possibly imagine - she had fallen in love with a British soldier and dared to talk to him in public.

At the police station where the father was held Sergeant Ali Jabbar told The Observer last week: 'Not much can be done when we have an "honour killing" case.

You are in a Muslim society and women should live under religious laws.

...her uncles spat on her covered corpse because she had brought shame on the family.

Being born female was her first crime against the family's honor.

If God in his infinite power were so upset by this woman’s actions, why didn’t he put a quick end to it all. A lightning bolt or two would have relieved God’s anger. However, giving God such human qualities, such as anger, revenge, and covetness are giving God attributes of a mortal being. This is the height of hypocrisy. You worship God because of his infinite wisdom and give him the qualities of a murderous brat kid.

How reassuring to know my hard-earned tax dollars are making the world a safer place for this sort of savagery.

"You are in a Muslim society and women should live under religious laws."

Which we are constantly told by Islamic apologists on MSM's "love in" shows about Islam, gives women the best human rights in the world, that women are highly regarded in Islam and enjoy more than equal rights, total liberty and freedom superior to anywhere else... (As long as they shut up remain covered and obey their husbands. )

We need to remind the feminists that acting like a 19th century feminist can get you killed in the 21st century Arab world.

Islam requires cleansing by an extreme application of the Teller-Ullman Effect.

The solution here was for Leila Hussein to give her husband the Lorena Bobbit treatment in his sleep and then ask for asylum. If more women from these cultures did that to the men who murdered their daughters, I suspect we’d see far fewer “honor” murders.

Great point.

Someone please wake me up when this starts to make any sense.

In other news, we continue to waste $15 billion/month on that country. If we spent the same amount of money on energy here in the US (any kind), we could be energy independent in 5-10 years and tell the middle east to shove it (and they’d be broke again as oil would plummet). Sigh.

Is it OK by current Iraqi law?
