Democrats still haven't gotten over Carter conceding in '80 before the polls closed on the West Coast, thereby suppressing Democrat votes down the ballot out there.

But let Big Journalism announce the Florida "victory" of Gore before the polls were even closed in the Republican-leaning Panhandle of Florida - and let the delay between closing of the polls in a state and the calling of that state for Gore be markedly less than the corresponding delay of a state called for Bush (in all but one case), and somehow that is no issue at all.
