Victory For Grassroots Americans Grassfire has confirmed that ALL amnesty language has been stripped from the Iraq Supplemental Spending Bill the result of tens of thousands of phone calls, faxes and fast action by a number of key Senators who sent a letter to Majority Leader Harry Reid demanding the language be dropped.
This happened as a direct result of grassroots actions. Thank you!
The Letter from Sen. Jim Inhofes office reads:
Dear Majority Leader Reid:
We write to express disappointment that the Senate Appropriations Committee chose to include in the War Supplemental more than 100 pages of immigration language that would grant legal status to more than one million illegal alien agricultural workers and their families. We urge you to remove these controversial provisions from the bill so we can enact essential funding for our troops without delay. If these provisions remain in the bill, you can expect a vigorous debate on immigration policy.
The letter was signed by 10 Senators, their names and contact information are below if you would like to call and thank them for their efforts:
Sen. Tom Coburn 202-224-5754
Sen. Elizabeth Dole 202-224-6342
Sen. Jim Bunning 202-224-4343
Sen. John Barrasso 202-224-6441
Sen. Jeff Sessions 202-224-4124
Sen. Jim Inhofe 202-224-4721
Sen. Charles Grassley 202-224-3744
Sen. Johnny Isakson 202-224-3643
Sen. David Vitter 202-224-4623
Sen. Saxby Chambliss 202-224-3521
This is what Americans need to learn — their voice is FAR MORE POWERFUL than they even imagine. This is a government for and by the people -— you just have to remind the pukes in Washington of that fact, sadly almost daily.
Anyone know what was actually in the bill that was dropped??
I read on another thread that it was not quite stripped and it is still necessary to keep calling our senators.
Don’t let your guard down too soon!
HR 5515 (by a Republican, Sam Johnson) is working its way through the House and needs to be stopped.
Masquerading under the “New Employee Verification Act” (NEVA), its real purpose is to prohibit all state and local laws attempting to control immigration and to amnesty all illegal workers currently here unless they make a formal job application for a new and different job.
Also missing are the names of the two Texas Senators - surprise, surprise!!
Heck, I am surprised that my two “Do Nothing” Georgia Senators are on the list.
I had to read the article again to make sure it wasn’t an Obituary.
This just goes to show us that we must remain vigilant.
They will keep trying to attach these types of amnesty riders to any bill they think they can slide it through on.
Keep the phone numbers handy!
I see Vitter on there. He’s mine.
Bravo
Finally some good news. Yes, calling Washington does work.
A good idea to thank those senators who signed the letter.
Please keep phoning your Senators throughout the day and ask them to strip the H-2B increase from the Iraq Supplemental spending bill. During your call, you may also want to express how pleased you were to learn that the amnesty and employment-based permanent workers were stripped from the bill.
