Bill O’Reilly is a pundit on FOX news. Douglas Feith was the Deputy Secretary of Defense under Donald Rumsfeld during the rollup to the Iraq War. Your comparison is ridiculous.
Naturally the Times and the Post are under no formal obligation to report balanced news. But as flagship national news organizations, they have a responsibility to report the news with some measure of fairness. Even so, they are of course free to do otherwise — and we are free to call them on it. We can fight back, as Douglas Feith is doing, as the guys at Powerline are doing, as everyone in the conservative new media is doing in one way or another these days. The Old Media monopoly is crumbling precisely because conservatives aren’t willing to just roll over anymore. But for some reason you’d prefer that we stay quiet when they screw us.
No, it is not ridiculous - it doesn't matter if it's O'Reilly or Feith in the context of what we're discussing.
Naturally the Times and the Post are under no formal obligation to report balanced news.
We're not discussing news, rather, were discussing book reviews.
We can fight back, as Douglas Feith is doing, as the guys at Powerline are doing,...
Good for Feith let him do just that - I have no problem.
But for some reason youd prefer that we stay quiet when they screw us.
That's not what I'm saying - buy the book and read it just like I'm going to do. However, I'm not going to blame the NY Times for failing to review the book - which ostensibly is the main point.
Note: You are correct - the NY Times is an "old dinosaur", as you indicated above. :-)
