The global warming debate arrives in the Senate next week, and it's about time. Finally, the Members will have to vote on something real, as opposed to their buck-passing to courts and regulators, and their easy trashing of President Bush.
The vehicle is a bill that principal sponsors Joe Lieberman and John Warner are calling "landmark legislation." They're too modest. Warner-Lieberman would impose the most extensive government reorganization of the American economy since the 1930s.
Thankfully, the American system makes it hard for colossal tax and regulatory burdens to foxtrot into law without scrutiny. So we hope our politicians will take responsibility for the global-warming policies they say they favor. Or even begin to understand what they say they favor. For a bill as grandly ambitious as Warner-Lieberman, very few staff, much less Senators, even know what's in it. The press corps mainly cheerleads this political fad, without examining how it would work or what it would cost. So allow us to fill in some of the details.

Well, let’s see. Refuse to allow the drilling bill to come out of committee. Then, bring forward a bill to cripple our economy through this garbage.
Hard to guess the approval rating for Congress is in the teens.
Actually, the last time I saw the numbers, it was 11%.

Where the heck is my global warming...we had FROST last night in the northern parts of South Dakota and the temp tonight is expected to be around 40. Because of this “global warming” I’m having to run my furnace during the last week of June. According to Al Gore we should all be dying of heat stroke by now.
Any Senator who votes to perpetrate this hoax deserves not only to be voted out of office, but also to be tarred and feathered IMO.
It ought to be called Kevorkianomics.

This is such a bogus scam they’re ramming down our throats. Such a bogus, bogus scam. On so many levels.
The American people are so, so abysmally stupid to be falling for it. I’m really ashamed of our citizenry. I know. Blame the universities and the NEA and the lying stinking commie media. I know. I blame all those stinking commie creeps.
But the bottom line is, the American public is falling for this massive swindle. And that makes them very, very stupid.
Last I heard, skeptics, however qualified, were not allowed even to speak before congress. “Foxtrot,” hell. This is a steamroller.
