Hmm... seems like another new age cult, which borrowed ideas from other religion and bastardize them. I am sure it is tailored to the shallow and inane mind of Hollywood celebrities.
Right up there with Left Coast Fensui Shaman when it comes to sillyness.:-)

Kabbalah is a real part of the Jewish tradition.
However, there is something called Kabbalah which was adopted by people interested in the occult over 100 years ago. Aleister Crowley was very involved in Kabbalah. He knew the Jewish roots (quite an educated man) but he was not pursuing this as a matter of Judaism. For the most part, when you hear people discussing Kabbalah today, what they are involved in is probably closer to the Black Arts than it is to Judaism.

You have to be a real Jewish scholar to know the Kabbalah. You have to study the talmud and the very difficult Gemara first (part of the reason one doesn't get to Kabbalah till the age of 40).
What are these kids and Madonna going to do? Are they going to make a Frankenstein monster or a Golem like the Maharal of the Czech republic?

ten years ago I was in an enviable position. I was making $12 million a movie... Now I make $125,000 for a movie, but do I have less? Demi makes it sound as though she voluntarily took a huge pay cut. They fact that her movies bombed had nothing to do with it!

I guess I just don't get this. What I learned of Kabala when I was young was that it was a very esoteric form of mysticism, and required years and years of study BEFORE beginning to take it up. The vast majority of Rabbis don't study it simply because it's so daunting.
But people who know nothing about Judaism take it up as their "spirituality?" Sounds like people trying to take a shortcut to "enlightenment." But it seems like someone trying to understand linear equations before understanding basic arithmetic.
