Photographs of nude 13-year-olds confiscated by police from a Sydney, Australia, gallery have been returned following a flurry of objections from artists including movie starlet Cate Blanchett and a decision that successful prosecution under child porn laws was unlikely.
The exhibit was created by photographer Bill Henson, whose dark and dramatic imagery is studied in Australian schools. The photos prepared for display at the Roslyn Oxley9 gallery in the Sydney suburb of Paddington, however, focused on images of naked 13-year-olds.

I don't want to feed the HELLywood monster anymore.
...slouching towards Gomorrah
Yep, and we all know what God did with that place.
just dont send it over the WWW
Three little letters that are supposed to insulate the depraved...A-R-T
Small wonder that many porn cinemas in the 60s & 70s were called ‘art theaters.’
So if you are a “respected” artist then child pornography is okay.
Got it!!!
But if you go to see them then you’ll be arrested for viewing child porn .../sarc/
This “sickness’ in our world just drops humanity a peg or two to just above apes and monkeys.
Towards???? I am not sure we haven't sunk below Gomorrah.
I’d videotape everyone who views the exhibit.
These pictures were not created in a vacuum. It is not as though the images are computer generated or painted from one’s imagination. A real, live, breathing child was photographed unclothed or partially clothed. THAT is the crime that must be stopped. THAT is what is evil. The perverted response of viewers of the pictures should not be the focus. Yes, a society that looks at children as sexual objects is sick. But all of this discussion about what viewers see or don’t see in the picture is just muddying up the matter. The evil is the exploitation of a child who is not legally able to consent to such exploitation. And the law should not allow their parents to give such consent on their behalf. We can do without this kind of art.
disgusting
Sprinting flat-out towards Gomorrah, you mean.
Go buy the Blu-Ray version of the “When We Left Earth” NASA series. Its listed on discovery.com. Its $79.99. The regular version is $69.99. I have already purchased mine and cant wait for it to ship. Its supposed to ship on July 24th. Judging from last nights first episode my Subwoofer will be getting a workout...
Yep, if you call depraved images “art” then that’s apparently ok.
Yet the same people who wouldn’t dare produce images insulting to Islam, because they want to respect other religions and cultures, think nothing of sticking a crucifix in a jar of urine and calling it “art”.
Disgusting. I certainly will be avoiding any movie with Cate Blanchett in it. But that probably isn’t going to be too difficult since most movies these days are garbage anyway.
So the 13 year olds are merely nude? Nudity does not automatically equate with pornography unless it focuses on the gentitals or is sexually explict...
Who reading this does not have pictures of their kids, or of themselves as little kid running around naked, in the tub naked, in a kiddy pool naked in the backyard, etc...
Some, including some law professionals have contended THOSE are child pornography and have even brought parents up on child porn charges for innocent pictures of their 2 year old taking a bubble bath.
FLDS: depends on the meaning of “consent.” Follow the $$$, always, and not the art.
When it comes to minors, all bets are off. A friend of mine was secretly videotaping some women at a Euro nude beach and suddenly realized he could get in a lot of trouble for taping minors who walked through the shot.
