Bush Awards Medal of Freedom to Donna Shalala (Our President honors yet another far-left Rat)
Democracy Project ^ | June 11, 2008 | Wynfield Myers

According to a White House press release President Bush has awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom to a woman who did her best to stamp out freedom of speech while chancellor of the University of Wisconsin.

Of all the educators in the country to choose from, the choice of Donna Shalala to receive our nation's highest civilian award is beyond puzzling; it is obscene.

If there is any one individual who we can look to as being singularly responsible for the sorry state of the Conservative movement and its decline over the past 8 years, we need look no further than the oval office.

While I voted for him twice (actually once in 2000 and once against that traitorous, rat-bastard, John "The Snake" Kerry) I (and I am not alone) am so very disappointed in President Bush including his most recent mind boggling faux pas, in his choosing one of the most far-left leaning Socialist one can find in the field of education in our lifetime, as a recipient of this high honor.

It is but yet another example of why so many of us are discouraged--nay, on the verge of despondency-- over the outlook and the sad state of affairs for us.

Even Rush, who has assiduously defended W over the years, while not coming right out and criticizing W, has taken to remarking about the lack of elected conservative leadership, from the White house on down.

While a very nice Christian man of excellent character, I and so many wish he had/would challenge those who continually attack him and his policies as opposed to always being nice to them (i.e., Pelosi, Reid, Kennedy, etc.) while they continue to stab him in the back at every opportunity they get.

While he is not the most eloquent communicator, he nevertheless could (even today if he was so inclined) make a case for causes such as drilling for oil, by doing as Reagan did and taking it directly to the people and laying the blame where it rightly belongs--except, I wonder if he really believes this to be the case or is just going thru the motions??

After all, he made some half-hearted comment before he left for Europe about "feeling our pain," and how we should be drilling for oil, but that's a far cry from putting it all on the line as he did for No Child Left Behind of the Prescription Drug Program.

When coupled with his eco-green talking point comments during his State of the Union about our being "addicted to oil;" his embracing and promoting Ethanol; the Polar Bear Endangered Species, etc., one has to wonder.

Some have suggested that W deems it demeaning for the President to bring himself to a level of taking the fight to the enemy and even goes so far as refusing to defend himself over the myriad of personal and professional attacks. However, we conservatives are thirsting for someone who would champion our cause; fight for what's "right" (a little pun there) and would welcome this like a person dying of thirst welcomes a glass of water.

It is beyond frustrating and it does not augur well for our cause in the near future.

If you haven’t had enough of the moderate stupidity, you can always vote for McCain!

Just the latest in a very long list in which I do not support this president.
As a Reagan conservative I’m very tired of Bush, Gore, And the Clintons.
And I have little belief that either Obamma Lamma Ding Dong or McLame will be any better.

I am beginning to understand those who suffer from BDS. I can't wait for this President to go cut down brush full time. But the thought of either of the next crop is more disturbing.

You offer a hand to these people and they bite it off! The President has continued to do so throughout eight years in office however. He is a true gentleman, too bad the 'rats don't seem to learn from his instruction by example.

When these types of people are honored in this way, you are giving creedance to their belief system and their political convictions. Why can’t a REPUBLICAN president, promote and recognize conservative thinkers??

It will be a cold day in hell and I've been voting since 1964, but will sit this one out, thank you.

Why doesn't GW honor the brave and noble work that Janet Reno has done in the past.

Good riddance.

Don’t you get it? He’s not a conservative. He’s got us deployed over there but undefended at our borders here.

It’s been a tough eight years for sure, but on every issue he ought to have followed a conservative instinct on, he veered left.

He embraced Kennedy and even the Clintons. Can you imagine Hillary and Bill doing that with for instance an icon of conservativism, like Rush-not that he would have participated, but you get the point. Was it not a stab through the heart of conservatism, because look at where we are today? An emasculated congress, a wildly out of control economy, no leadership on either drilling or alternative energy. What the hell, he could have put as much energy in to energy exploration here, tax incentives for alternatives, on and on, as he did in creating a huge education department that is another bungling bureaucracy.

Growing the government, not providing leadership to a conservative congress, not forcing fiscal restraint but instead sneering at the concept.

And for heavens sakes, since we are in Iraq this deep and for this much money, why the hell not make it about oil. We need it and we can throw a little to our allies, too.

V’s wife.

Every now and then, George Jr. gets away from his handlers and we get absurdities like: No Child Left Behind, Harriet Miers, the Kennedy-McCain Illegal Alien Amnesty Bill, Medicare Prescription Entitlements, and ... this.

Although definitely far better than either Bonehead Gore or Lurch Kerry, I must agree with liberals who assert Bush is by no means the brightest bulb on the Christmas tree.

Exactly and that is the reason why (for the first time in 44 years) I am going to sit this one out and let the chips fall where they may.

I (and many others) came to realize that by 04, W's RINO tendencies had become full blown for one and all to see.

However, I would have walked over burning coals to vote "against" Kerry.

That is not the case this time.

While I fear fear Barack ("Peace Be Upon His Middle No Name") Obama, I have had it with voting for RINO's and this is where I get off and let the chips fall where they may.

If in the time I have left, we EVER get someone who will "lead" the conservative movement rather than being part of the "Kumbaya Chorus" such as McLame, I'll go back to voting.

In the meantime, my energies (and $$$) will go to support Congress-criters (wherever they may be) who exhibit, practice, (and are not ashamed to afraid to publicize) conservative principals and values.

Tough call here. I was in law school at The University of Wisconsin while Shalala was there. I’d occasionally find myself playing tennis on an adjacent court to four lesbian midgets, and yes she was one of them. For what she did in helping to turn around the football program at UW, I think she may have a free pass on all else. I dunno.

Cannot get love, buy love or even earn love from the Leftist rats. There can be NO redemption. Dont' know why - save perhaps for what may as well be the Akashic Record - Bush continues to try.

He has turned his cheek so often; am surprised he has enough 'face' left; to be recognizeable.

These people; this 'Left'; this DemRAT Party; is no different save by a few degrees; than our worst jihadist enemy; so defined by their goals to destroy America; subjugate it's citizenry by making null/void our Constitutional Principles.

But hey; the Dems probably put her up; and maybe he had no choice; and her record, written by the her 'employer(s)' at the time; perhaps could not be denied.

Perhaps there is a reason. . .that we have yet to understand here. . .

Conservatives are now becoming the swing vote for this election. Obama knows this to be true and already is mounting a campaign to get as many of those votes as he can. Meanwhile McCain charges more to the left. Soon McCain will be courting the Conservative vote.

Also, I read your tagline, which degrades retards, but “were” should be “we’re” the contraction of we are. Otherwise your statement does’nt make sense.

We get no free passes, so neither to they. Especially not over something as dumb as turning around a football program. Think man, we are talking an ideology that has been ground in to the dirt. Liberals have won, game nearly over. I don’t know too many young people who will ever vote republican because, unlike a few generations ago, there was a Reagan to point to with pride. No kid today is going to challenge the status quo in high school or college because he has a hero in the White House who led on ideas. The circus, i.e. football, doesn’t advance ideas. The bully pulpit does, and he blew it and continues to do so. V’s wife.
