WASHINGTON Nearly 32 months after a Texas grand jury indicted him for election-law violations, former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay still hasnt gotten his day in court on one count of money laundering and one count of conspiracy to commit money laundering. More than two years ago DeLay surrendered to a Harris County jail. Even by Texas standards, that lag is an unusually long time for a relatively minor criminal case to remain unresolved. It does take two to two-step: Appeals have been flying from the defendants as well as from Travis County District Attorney Ronnie Earles office. The last significant action on the case was almost exactly one year ago, when the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals upheld the decisions of two lower courts to throw out the conspiracy to violate election law charge against DeLay. They do not want to go to trial because they dont even have a case, DeLay told FOXNews.com, referring to the courts and Earle. In the meantime, they can destroy my reputation, they can bankrupt me... this is the new politics of personal destruction. Its no longer good enough to ruin ones reputation. Dick DeGuerin, the high-powered defense attorney representing DeLay, said he doesnt believe the hold-up is politically motivated. But he is curious why the DeLay case has been sitting in the Texas 3rd District Court of Appeals for so long.

DeLay 2012!
Punk-ass Ronnie Earle doesn’t have squat on Delay. He makes Nifong look like Matlock.
DeLay’s attempts to create a lasting GOP majority seem to have backfired on him.
Don’t see why he can’t. The Justice Department should investigate this violation of his Constitutional rights, but they have to be ASKED to do it.
I actually saw a judge do that, in the courthouse in Cleburne, Texas. The time frame of the delay? 6 months.
He also told the prosecutor that "Justice delayed is justice denied."

Because the Democrats had Earle railroad him in order to create an appearance of corruption that didn’t exist in this case, thus setting the stage for a Democrat majority.
Ronnie Earle should indeed by disbarred. He’s trying to bankrupt Delay.
How so? Thru his own doing?
S'plain, please!!
Disbarment would not be enough. He’s retiring in the fall. I would like to see if Earle coordinated his attack on DeLay with Dem politicians. Put them all in jail for obstruction of justice.
This thing is quite a hassle, but the Republicans still have a majority in the Texas Congressional delegation, and DeLay will ultimately be exonerated.
Which the Republicans facilitated by trailering their own rules to the Democrats' wishes.
It all had it’s desired effect and that was to make DeLay roadkill for the next election cycle. I hope he keeps fighting this.
Redistricting Texas was an attempt to prevent the GOP from losing the House to the dems.
You are correct, it was/is just a hassle. We will have to wait and see how Abramoff plays out in the coming election.
Exactly correct. Poor ronnie earle is leaving office and we will have another RAT as the DA here in Travis county. I wish I could move out of this rathole, but can't afford it now.
The left kept Oliver North in court for 10 years.
Good luck to Tom DeLay.
