Al-Mahdi Army militias routed without a shot fired
Times of London ^ | 06/20/08 | James Hider

Posted on 06/19/2008 6:53:14 PM PDT by TigerLikesRooster

They came at dawn, thousands of Iraqi troops and US special forces on a mission to reclaim a lawless city from the militias who ran it.

By the end of the day, al-Amarah was under Iraqi Government control - without a shot being fired.

Routing enemies - that’s unpatriotic! What’s next, extracting information from them?!!

End of an era if the Iranians can be kept out. At this rate the only enemy left will be working for the MSM in Baghdad.

Bottom line, the British were cowards. They pulled out much too soon and handed it over to an ill-prepared Iraqi force, and they knew it, to fight the insurgents from Iran.

The Brits were brokering truces with the jihadi thugs. They did the same thing in Afghanistan. I don’t necessarily believe it was cowardice rather than willfull blindness.

“That conflict ended only when the Government cut a deal with Hojatoleslam al-Sadr, a ceasefire brokered by Iran.”

Wrong, the MSM believes that if they repeat a lie enough it will be accepted as truth. The fact is that there was a negotiated cease fire that the Maliki government ignored and proceeded to rout out and kill many of the so-called Mahdi fighters. The government forcibly took control of Basra and Sadr City and numerous other places in the country that were controlled by the evil Shia militias. The past several weeks has represented a congealing of power and respect for the elected government. This is a time of great optimism in Iraq. It should be one here too, but leave it to the dims and the lamestream media to urinate on the parade.

That line jumped out at me as well. They can't write the "Al Sadr wins again" stories that they were producing two months ago without being laughed at, so now they have to imply a "stalemate."

The Brit civilian leaders did not want trouble from their domestic Muslim immigrants, trouble which they would have gotten if they were effective in Iraq

With this I agree. It is always the politicians who start wars and lose wars, not the warriors dying in the fields.

Ah! MORE good news from Iraq that you will NOT see in the
mainstream TV or Newspapers. Or, if published, it’ll be on
page C24 or thereabouts...

Great photo and post!

Agreed. That distinction needed to be made.

The British were not and are not cowards. They painstakingly trained the locals to fight for their own country, and removed themselves as a recruiting irritant for the Al-Mahdis.

This same ‘Chindit’ strategy can be seen working in Afghanistan, where Afghani infantry and artillerymen have been blowing away the Taliban.

You could learn the truth about what your allies have done, or you could badmouth them. Which is it to be?

To many Iraqi, this is a new thing. Seeing Iraqi troops storm their towns and cities in official uniforms, well armed and well organized and not harming all the innocent bystanders.
