He was one of the comedians I remember growing up with. He turned bitter after his wife died.

Growing up, I remember listening to Carlin, David Frye, Vaughn Meder, and Mort Sahl, for political humor and counter-culture humor.

I noticed that too. I think he always had an edge, but it got much sharper and more cynical after her death.
