He drove me insane sometimes as far left as he was, but By God he was funny. And didn’t let ANYONE tell him what to say and I respect him for that.

And he was always great as voices in my kids’ movies.

Miss you much Mr. Carlin.

I couldn’t agree more. His political and religious stuff rubbed me the wrong way, but he was so talented I was able to look past it. Class Clown was an album I wore out when I was young. I saw him at the Garde in New London back in ‘93 on the Carlin on Campus tour. I’m glad I did. God he made me laugh. A consummate satirist.

What the hell is your problem? He’s dead and that’s all you can say? Do FR a favor and keep silent when Senator Kennedy passes on.

Although he became best known for his drug and “dirty” humor, when he kept it clean, he was as good or better than anyone else at the time.

He could, at times, be brilliant. Some of his bits had me laughing so hard I couldn’t catch my breath.

Thank you so much for posting that. The whole house is sleeping and I’m sitting here trying to keep my laughs from waking them. I’ve also come to realize that laughter and eating a bowl of Fiber 1 can cause rather a mess on your monitor. LOL! Thanks again. :)

If I remember him right, Carlin often talked about a religion where your soul ends up in a garage in Buffalo. I think it had to do with the church suspending Limbo and St. Christopher.

So anyone in Buffalo see something strange (oxymoron for that liberal haven) it might be George.

Thank you George for the laughs and letting me know I wasn't the only one with Nun issues.

I saw him in person when I was in college — funny guy. And (excuse me for this) my kids LOVED him on “Thomas the Tank Engine” as the narrator. He’ll be missed.

“... His political and religious stuff rubbed me the wrong way...”

I loved George Carlin when he was on the Ed Sullivan Show (yes I am an aging boomer). He was clean and he was funny. I started not liking him when he started bashing Catholics (I am sorry he didn’t agree with the Church, but it was totally disgusting and uncalled for). Rest in peace anyway.

You mean I'm not the only one?

Both Carlin and Richard Pryor were hilarious way back on the Sullivan show when they had to be clean. Then they got "edgy" and stopped being funny while everyone else started raving about what "geniuses" they were.

I had the pleasure of seeing him in the very early 80’s in an old three balcony theater. Back when they served cocktails and had smoking sections. That night there was a lot of other smoking going on!

He had been on hiatus for a few years with live performance and was trying out some new material.

“My stuff” was some of that classic material. I never laughed so hard in my life!

RIP George!!

I saw him twice in person. Many times on HBO. He was one of my favorite comedians.

RIP George

Indeed. Did you know they now have Dial-A-Prayer for atheists? ... You call it and no one answers.

Yes, his “7 Words” helped destroy civility in our society, but I’ll always remember Carlin as...

Biff Barf: “We have a patial score, Baltimore 3...”

Al Sleet: “And a quick look at the radar shows an incoming flight of Soviet ICBM’s”

And the man who made such observations as: “Did you ever notice how hail always comes in other sizes? Penny sized; dime sized; baseball sized; etc.?”

Richard Pryor leads me in burning himself out one to nothing.

But I lead Richard Pryor in heart attacks two to one.

You see, first, Richard Pryor had a heart attack.

Then, I had a heart attack.

Then Richard Pryor burned himself out.

And I said, "F**k that, I'll have another heart attack."

He was so much funnier on TV than he was live. I was disappointed when we saw his show. The first couple of ‘f’ bombs were shockingly funny, then it got old really fast when it turned out to be every other ‘f’ing’ word. Much better when he was on TV and had to be creatively funny as opposed to just saying that word every 2 seconds. Not much creativity working there, I walk outside the high school and hear the same stuff.
