"wealthy celebrities"

It would be difficult to say that Oprah Winfrew with her billion dollars has no power. Wealthy celebrities exert a powerful influence on the political process. It's not rich corporate interests who are behind the wacko environmental laws that are dragging the country down. There's all sorts of pressures put on politicians. Corporate interests are just part of it.

I found some of his stuff to be funny in the ‘80s, but the last thing I saw from him—I think it was “You Are All Diseased” from 1999—was just plain pathetic. This man, reputed to be the most cutting edge of any comic, stood up there and said, “The last time someone proposed school uniforms, they said it in German.” I had seen this years before on a bumper sticker! Pretty sad state of affairs for the man.

That whole show was just terrible. He went on and on about the joys of picking scabs from his head and eating them. And then there was the charming bit about parents having a child do the answering machine recording, and how he’d say, “Hello, little Brittany! First, I’m going to **** you up the ***, then I’m going to kill your parents and skin them to make a binding for a book!” It was more detailed and deranged than that, but I knew I was done with him. Even his usually reliable “stupid things people say” segment was stale. “Lock him up and throw away the key. Well, what if you throw it close to the cell and he can get out?” Stupid.

Oprah? lol

Let me tell ya something, Ya see all those private jets parked at places like Santa Monica, LAX etc? You think those belong to celebrities?

Answer: No.

The majority of them belong to corporations who rent them out to celebrities, and politicians too. Whats she make 260 million a year? Net worth about 2b including her furniture and shoes? No biggy compared to large corporations, that churn that out around the clock. Not in a life time.

Some corporations make that every quarter or less. lol...

Fact is the wealthy elite, those that own and operate these corporations, own D.C. It's not really a secret or some newly acquired revelation. It's not rich corporate interests who are behind the wacko environmental laws that are dragging the country down.

That's eye candy for the stupid. What, you think these hippies have any real power? The government is right in bed with those phonies and the ruling wealthy elite play them both like a fiddle.

There's all sorts of pressures put on politicians.

Yeah, like where is that $1000 dollar an hour hooker that was paid for by Fat Corp?

The fact is the Dem Party is beholden to wacko environmental groups, Marxist feminists, homosexual weirdos, and minorities. Corporations have little to do with them. I’d rather the government be influenced by what’s good for corporations than wacko leftists anytime.

I'm glad to read your post. After all the negativity about Carlin, I was glad to see that someone "got" him.

Once you got past the vile language, the vituperation and the nihilism, George Carlin got to the core of some very nasty truths about American society and -- especially -- politics.

Good point!
Kind of like another dude in the same vein of truth telling named Richard Pryor.
