The Obamacons Who Worry McCain (Well known Republicans might endorse Hussein)
Washington comPOST ^ | 6/26/08 | Bob Novak

Posted on 07/01/2008 2:45:28 PM PDT by Recovering_Democrat

What is an "Obamacon?" The phrase surfaced in January to describe British conservatives entranced by Barack Obama. On March 13 the American Spectator broadened the term to cover all "conservative supporters" of the Democratic presidential candidate. Their ranks, though growing, feature few famous people. But looming on the horizon are two big potential Obamacons: Colin Powell and Chuck Hagel.

Bob Novak was just on Fox News Channel with Laura Ingraham and this was the subject. (Did a search and didn't find the topic)

Any thoughts about this? NOVAK, in the article purports Chuckles Hagel will NOT endorse Hussein, but Powell will...

This was posted the other day. The article said that neither Powell nor Smagel would outright endorse Obama.

Powell has already given $2,300 to the McCain Campaign last fall.

I thought the term was supposed to cover conservatives supporting Hussein. Neither Hagel nor Powell qualify for the label.

The prospect of Hagel endorsing Obama is an interesting thought, because if the Republican nominee was anyone other than John McCain, then I would be expecting McCain to be the one to endorse Obama-—you know, he’s a “maverick” and all.

So they are American citizens who've lived abroad for umpteen years and will be personally unaffected by the domestic policies of the Obamanation. Makes sense now.

I believe this would be termed “wishful thinking”. The Leftist disinformation machines do this every election - pick out some ringers, have them declare that they are conservatives who are suddenly going to embrace communists/leftists/McGovern/Carter/Mondale/Clinton/Obama/Little Green Men/Boy George and then sit back and wait for the rest of their sheep to join the herd.

NOT.

Powell to me is not a republican. He knows what Obama is. He has to know that Obama is a Marxists. If Powell endorses and votes for Obama, then to me, Powell tells me that his 35+ years of defending the nation from communism was a sham and that he really wants the country to turn socialist. Or, he is simply voting for him because he is black and he has to vote for his brother, not whitey.

What's your point? Neither does McCain. :D IF (big word that) they were to endorse McCain, there are many that believe that since they are Republicans, they must be Conservatives and treat this as a warning sign on McCain. No worry, however, both Powell and Hagel want the Liberal wing of the Republican Party to win and will likely support McCain for that reason.

I’m tired of this constant picking on McCain. There’s alot of pick on, but he campaigned tirelessly for Bush and made a brilliant speech at the convention. There’s no evidence that he would not have campaigned tirelessly for whomever won this nomination. So...STOP IT.

I would see Powell supporting McCain for a host of reasons.

I thought the term was supposed to cover conservatives supporting Hussein.

At first, in the Spring, the word was "Obamicans" -- Republicans who supported or might support Obama, including some crossover voters who went for him in the primaries.

Now it's "Obamacons" as a parallel to neocons and paleocons. Some of them may be enthusiastic about Obama. But others figure that you can't trust any politician to do what they say.

Novak seemed very sure that Colin Powell would endorse Obama, "at a time of his choosing" which may mean he wants to endorse him only if he looks like the winner or at a time calculated to do the most damage McCain.

I think this would seriously damage Powell's reputation if he does this. He will go over like Scott McClellan.

Nope, not gonna happen. McCain’s policies mirror Democrat policies in some instances so he deserves to be pilloried.

I look at Powell, Hagel, and McCain as pretty much three sides of the same coin.  Each of them should know better.  McCain stated that he had a lot of respect for the Democrat party and it's ideals in 2004.  That was the year he explained Kerry was a good friend of his.

2004/03/10 McCain states he would entertain an offer to be John Kerry's Vice-President, but doesn't see a realistic scenario where he would be asked.  Later denies he would leave the Republican party.  YouTube
2004/04/02 McCain states, "I believe my party has gone astray, I think the Democratic Party is a fine party, and I have no problems with it, in their views and their philosophy, but I also feel the Republican Party can be brought back to the principles I articulated before."

Let's recall that Terresa Heinz Kerry and her Tides Foundation was a financial backer of the Reform Institute along with George Soros and the Eductation foudation.  John McCain joined them to start the Reform Institute.

Soros, Kerry, and the Education foundation are very problematic, if you're a conservative.  I'd never be associated with them.

2001/00/00 McCain founded the Reform Institute funded by George Soros' Open Society Institute, Teresa Heinz Kerry's Tides Foundation, several other non-profits.  CapnsQtrs  Malkin WND  Contains information on Juan Hernandez and numerous McCain Campaign staff from 2000, that found potitions at the Reform Institute  Contains information on who funded McCain's efforts on Campaign Finance Reform, Comprehansive Immigration Reform and a number of Global Warming bills listed in this timeline.

Powell has been a major disappointment to me over time.  Hagel was never anything other than what he is, a Democrat too embarassed to admit it.

John is the guy who troubles me.  People don't see him for what he is.  And where he's at, that is dangerous.

Anyone who served in the military that votes for Obama or any Democrat for that matter has thrown away their military service.

You are right and it has been going on for year and years. The leftist MSM and cohorts love to find a "conservative" who will jump ship and endorse the dimocrat/liberal viewpoint on a given issue. When thay find such a self-ambitious dupe, they promote him shamelessly just to embarrass the conservatives. If a "Republican" wants to become the darling of the liberal media, all he needs to do is oppose his own party on big issues-- like tax cuts, immigration, camapign finance, judges, and stuff like that.

Of course, if that "Republican" should ever run against an actual liberal, his media friends will dump on him in a heartbeat.

There may be some Republicans voting for Obama this fall but there will be NO real Conservatives doing so. Sadly I have heard callers into to Talk Radio saying that they were Black Conservatives but simply had to vote for Obama. That means to those who will be doing this, race is more important than the survival of our wonderful country. Sad commentary on today's race relations.
