While American politicians mull a carbon cap-and-trade system for industry, our British cousins are already contemplating the next step: personal CO2 rations
...The global warmists want you to sacrifice for their cause. And the duration of their war on carbon will make the decade-and-a-half of British rationing during and after World War II seem like a fleeting moment. The pending climate-change bill calls for a 60% cut in carbon emissions from their 1990 levels by 2050. Once 2050 rolls around, who exactly will declare the end of hostilities?
The prospect of personal CO2 rations should debunk the idea that the cost of curbing carbon emissions would fall on the owners of dirty old factories. That notion was always a green herring: Like corporate taxes, the business costs of carbon reduction will be passed on to consumers. In that sense, we should be grateful to the Brits for showing us where this anticarbon crusade really ends up.

I am glad we have so many other countries willing to show us the way to stupidity. The question is will Americans be smart enough to see how stupid the idea really is.
The intent it obvious; a bankrupt people are a non-carbon using people.
That's my way of sticking it in the eye of Al Gore, Barack Obama, and any other pol or individual who is pushing this foolish agenda either for political gain, or as useful idiots thereto.
Looking ahead, October 2012: "I'm sorry it looks like with that extra family trip to Disney World this summer, you maxed out you C02 yearly allowance. We need you to stop breathing until January."
And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: - II Thessalonians, 2:10,11
The rations will probably drop to zero and it will just become a straight tax scheme.
How large are their jails? The Brits can’t keep AQ terrorists locked up. Fines? All well and good if there are jobs and people have money. At what point of recession are fines for the average person moot? Without electricity, how will they monitor all those ankle bracelets? Will the rural folks return to burning wood and peat?
Friends of ours with other friends in the UK just returned from there. The mood is not pretty. Those who can are preparing to leave. Everyone hates Labour.
Just read the article; it’s all about cutting energy use. Having been through this several times before this “crisis”, all I can say is why bother cutting energy use. It means a reduction in revenue to someone for some reason and you wind up just where you were before. Eventually you reach rock bottom and still pay a lot more for using less.
When you control people’s energy use,
YOU CONTROL PEOPLE.
That’s what this is about.
Nice truck! Where can I get that bumper sticker?
I’m serious about this: my wife suggested setting up a corporation that will plant a tree in our yard for $$, and in return we give the buyer “carbon credits.” What are the legal obstacles?
An obvious violation of Sharia Law.
Quite. Algore's gigantic house uses the energy of 10 normal houses and he flies around in fancy jets.
BTW, when Algore got that speeding ticket in Oregon a few years back, just what kind of car was he driving?
Let me know when the Rebel Alliance is taking volunteers.
