Obama "Pivots" on the Issues (What has big ears and flip-flops? See, it ain't that hard...)

Obama "Pivots" on the Issues
Jack Kelly
Tue Jul 15, 7:30 AM ET

During his eight years in the Illinois state senate, Barack Obama voted "present" 130 times. That's an astounding 12-13 times a year in which he said, in effect, "I'm here, but I'm not going to take a stand on this issue."

Given that record of bold leadership, I'm surprised Sen. Obama acted as he did on the legislation Congress passed July 9 to renew the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act. Sen. Obama had pledged to filibuster FISA if it contained a provision to provide retroactive immunity to telecommunications companies which cooperated with the government, and then reneged on that promise.

I'm surprised Sen. Obama wasn't somewhere else giving a speech on hope and change on the day of the FISA vote. If there were ever a vote for him to duck, it was this one. The FISA flip flop is all the more perplexing in view of the er, ah, "pivots" Sen. Obama has made recently on campaign finance, NAFTA, gun control, the death penalty, and abortion, and the Mother-of-all-pivots he is about to make on the Iraq war. His moonbat base is already upset enough with him. Why give them additional reason for concern?

When Sen. Obama returns from his visit to Iraq, he is all but certain to backtrack on the pledge he made to withdraw all U.S. troops from Iraq within 16 months of assuming office. He's already said he'll "refine" his policy after input from the commanders on the ground, and, thanks to Martha Raddatz of ABC News, we've got a good idea of what that input will be.

What has big ears and flip-flops?

A moonbat enjoying a day at the beach.

Nervous Democrats in the Senate have noted public support for drilling for oil in the U.S. has reached landslide proportions, and are softening their opposition to it.

OH? SINCE WHEN?

Dem. operative Bob Beckel was on one of those talking head shows, and he said all campaigns cater to the base in the primary, and then move to the center for the general election. He said Obama is no different than anyone else on this. He said if we spent all our time documenting Obama’s changes, we wouldn’t have time to discuss the issues in the campaign. And he said McCain has changed positions too.

Please, do not make fun of Barry for voting present. It ain't easy picking sides in a one party state.

cut him some slack it was only 8 years

its taken John Kerry since 1985 to rack up this impressive list of senate accomplishments:

S.791: Authorizes $53 million over four years to provide grants to woman-owned small businesses. (1999)

S.1206: Names a federal building in Waltham, Massachusetts after Frederick C. Murphy, who was killed in action during World War II and awarded (posthumously) the Medal of Honor. (1994)

S.1636: A save-the-dolphins measure aiming “to improve the program to reduce the incidental taking of marine mammals during the course of commercial fishing operations.” (1994)

S.1563: Funding the National Sea Grant College Program, which supports university-based research, public education, and other projects “to promote better understanding, conservation and use of America’s coastal resources.” (1991)

S.423: Granting a visa and admission to the U.S. as a permanent resident to Kil Joon Yu Callahan. (1987)

On the east coast, you can be 'Sopranoed'. Down south, there's always the tried and true 'Arkancide'. What do they call it in Chi-town?

There may be more inhumane things than to sleep with the fishes. If you do not play ball in Illinois, you get indicted which throws a lot of business the shyster's way, and then when are drained of your ill gotten gains and lose, you go jail, where some guy makes you his wife.

As a native Chitowner, I can tell you that Chitown's motto is "Vote Early and Often!" When I lived in the Chitown area we voted often enough to keep the corrupt Rethugs out of elected city and county offices.
