House Republicans “Demanding Action” Now to Create New American-Made Energy
House Republican Conference ^ | July 15, 2008

“Republicans in the House and Senate want an immediate vote to put lawmakers on record”

“Republicans on Capitol Hill have been hammering away for weeks … demanding action”

“House and Senate Republicans have been working for weeks to coordinate their message on the need for an energy fix to bring down gas prices”

CQ: “House Republicans … filed another discharge petition seeking a floor vote on legislation they say could lower gas prices pretty quickly. The bill, the fifth piece of energy legislation the House Republicans have filed discharge petitions on in recent weeks, would cut the number of localized ‘boutique’ gasoline blends that refiners are required to produce under EPA mandates to reduce air pollution. … Republicans on Capitol Hill have been hammering away for weeks at Democrats, demanding action on legislation that would remove or relax restrictions on energy exploration offshore and on various public lands.” (7/15/08)

The Christian Science Monitor: “…[C]ongressional Democrats probably have an uphill battle in their bid to reshape the debate, if opinion polls are any indication. … Republicans in the House and Senate want an immediate vote to put lawmakers on record about whether to relax restrictions on energy exploration offshore and on US public lands.” (7/15/08)

Talk Radio News Service: Republican Leader John Boehner “and other top Republicans spoke at a press conference today to accept a petition from American Solutions signed by 1.3 million Americans. The petition calls on Congress to take action now to lower gas prices. House Minority Whip Roy Blunt (R-MO.) stated that he and his fellow Republicans have asked Democrats to bring legislation to the floor that would provide American solutions to rising oil prices, yet we still see no action.” (7/15/08)

Fox News: “House Republicans are traveling to Alaska this weekend to check out the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge … House and Senate Republicans have been working for weeks to coordinate their message on the need for an energy fix to bring down gas prices, even attempting to catch Senate Democratic Leader Harry Reid in a procedural snafu to force a vote on their energy plan.” (7/15/08)

The Hill: “Republicans found themselves with new ammunition against Democrats in an election year where the price of gas hovers near $4 a gallon. … On the Hill, Republicans embraced the White House’s decision as an important internal victory for congressional Republicans who have been quietly urging the action for weeks, according to sources familiar with the discussions. ‘House Republicans have been privately urging the White House to make this move for weeks,’ said a House GOP leadership aide. ‘A key moment came last week when Rep. Boustany announced in [the House Republican] conference that he was circulating a letter urging the president to take this action unilaterally.’” (7/14/08)

Roll Call: “Meanwhile … the 30-Something Working Group of young Democrats is set to face off against pro-drilling Republicans in a two-hour debate on gas prices Monday night on the House floor. The Republican side will include Reps. Peterson, Lynn Westmoreland (Ga.), Mike Conaway (Texas) and Tom Price (Ga.)” (7/11/08)

Media General News Service: “Polls show that with gas at a national average of $4.11 a gallon, Americans have become more open to the idea of offshore drilling. House Republicans say they have bi-partisan support to pass legislation to enable offshore drilling but the Democratic leadership won’t bring it up for a vote.” (7/15/08)

Madam Speaker Marie Antoinette, excuse me, Nancy Pelosi, will not let that happen. She lives in her modern Versailles(Capitol Hill), and could care less about flyover country.

Well, Americans wouldn't be making energy as much as exploiting the available resources, but most of these are good ideas. It's about time the GOP decided to really get serious about taking advantage of this.

well, its better late than never...

too bad the GOP wasn’t as passionate about this issue when they had the majority in the House & Senate and Bush in the Oval Office...

The incompetency of the clowns in D.C. is just beyond belief!

The only way to end this three-ring circus is TERM LIMITS!

American Made Energy! I have an idea!

I assume everyone is familiar with those little glass “dipping bird” kids’ toys, where a blown glass “bird”, mounted in a swivel base?

When the bird’s felt covered head and beak are wetted and the toy is made to rock back and forth, the temperature difference between the top and bottom bulbs (due to evaporation of the water from the fabric on the head) causes the fluid to transfer up the narrow neck into the “head”. When the head becomes too heavy, the bird “dips”, putting its beak into a strategically placed glass of water, rewetting the fabric, causing the fluid to transfer back into the “belly” (lower bulb) of the bird, and starting the process all over again. These things can go for days or weeks as long as you replenish the water supply.

Well, picture if you will, THOUSANDS of gigantic “dipping birds”, lining the major lakes and waterways of America! The swivel axis of each bird will be attached to a mecahnism which causes generator shafts to turn, thereby generating electricity!

Just think about how much electricity could be generated!

Think about how entertained the children will be!

Welcome to my Brave New World!!!!

Seriously, it’s gotta work better than WIND...

Uh they were, except that the American people and some RINO's were lapping up the uber green crap of the democrats. Now they see the consequences of lapping up that crap($4 a gallon gas).

BTW, how come you don't mention that the GOP congress passed drilling in ANWR in 96 and Clinton vetoed it.

Call, Call, Call and let them know how you feel.

Tell them you want to donate for for Harry’s hearing aid, cause he just isn’t getting the message.

“Call, Call, Call and let them know how you feel.”

No offense, but I will be letting them know what I THINK.

It has been my experience that for the most part, Liberals “feel” while Conservatives think.

I posted this on another thread: Steve Chabot, one of our local representatives was on a local radio station the other day and said that a lot of his constituents had sent him gas receipts. He delivered them to Bela Pelosi on the floor of the House (to make a statement), and she was so flustered, she didn’t know what to say. He encouraged others to send their gas receipts to either him or to their own representative. I thought it was a good idea. The RATs need to be deluged with our gas receipts, phone calls, faxes, e-mails and snail mail — maybe, just maybe they will get the message. We were proactive with the illegal alien bill they tried to ram through. If we do the same with this, we might get the same result!

I believe we are being hoodwinked by some pretty sophisticated pr. The oil companies have alot of leases on land that they know has oil and they haven’t tapped into them for many years. Here is a man that is exposing the corruption and high price fixing...well documented too...

actually it was 1995...
and I have “mentioned” it in the past...but since we’re talking “current events” with the present POTUS, it just might be more relevant to “mention” the present administration.

Doesn’t take much reading by this Texas oilman of 35 years to see the lack of factual knowledge and incoherence in this link.

E.G. - Refineries NEVER run at 100% capacity. They, like all mechanized systems, have downtimes.

Beware of liberals like this posing as conservatives.

I just called Harry’s office and said, “I understand after reading on a website that they are taking donations for a hearing aid for Harry.”
He told me he is unfamilar with that and could I please hold, so I waited and waited and he came back and said, “I checked around the office and no one is familar with that” and maybe I should check out Harry’s website to check it out”.

Can you believe this, they are all air heads.
Everyone call and say you want to donate for Harry’s hearing aids.
If Harry could play the pajama game with us, we can certainly play the hearing aid game with him.
Maybe he will get the message.

Can you imagine if hundreds of people called.
I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nancy Pelosi is that You?

You are spreading Democrat/Marxist talking points and propaganda.

The government, the department of the Interior, the EPA, and a myriad of other government agencies still have to approve drilling on areas after they are leased to oil companies. And sometimes those approval processes take years. The liberal mainstream media and Democrats don’t tell you that and that it takes the government years sometimes to approve drilling somewhere, and also there are lawsuits by environmental groups that tie up drilling for additional years. So that’s why it takes 10 years to produce oil after a lease is granted. Also the oil companies might have explored that area and found no oil there. There is no guarantee that leased areas will have oil.

This is classic Communist propaganda tactics: blame others for what you caused.Democrats are using this spin to blame the oil companies for the rising oil prices when it is Democrats who have caused the high oil prices in part by banning oil shale development where there is a trillion barrels of oil in the U.S..

Does your kind of leftist, anti-capitalist propaganda belong on a conservative web site or on CNN and in Democrat Pelosi’s speeches(lies)? The latter is where those lies are being spread where your lies belong.

The oil companies have spent 260+ billion from 2005 to 2007 for capital expenditures to expand drilling.

Shell even has a contract with Jordan to extract oil the difficult to extract oil from oil shale in Jordan.

Why is the government owning and leasing land and parts of the Ocean anyway? That is Marxism/Communism. There is no private property in Marxism/Communism because the government owns all property and so has absolute power.
