The Flight 93 Memorial August 2
The Strata-Sphere ^ | 7/18/08 | AJSTRATA

Folks, we have a national disaster brewing over the 9-11 Flight 93 memorial. Years ago an uproar ensued over the plan to memorialize those who died on Flight 93, considered the first battle on the War on Terror which Americans won, under the Islamic symbol of the crescent. I am not against Islam in general, and I am not of the opinion that vast Muslim community is ready for war with the rest of the world. But Islamic extremists are responsible for 9-11 and many other attacks on the West before and after 9-11, so we must make sure that memorials to our fallen heroes in this war on terror represent American values.

When the uproar hit the US Park Service supposedly got the message and were to take actions to fix the problem. Instead they decided to try sneak through the original offending design. Next month there is going to be a meeting in Pennsylvania to get feedback on this rolling disaster. It is incumbent upon everyone who has an issue with this travesty to get out there and make your voices known.

My previous posts on this matter can be seen here and here (most recent first). In the above picture you can see the original, totally offensive design. In the image below you can see how the old design is still there, with a few cosmetic changes. The right answer then, and now, is to dump this design and select from the 100’s of others submitted for the memorial. It is critically important that a 9-11 memorial to the first fighters against al-Qaeda be something most Americans can take pride in. For too many, the current design fails this basic test.

I didn't write it. If I had, I wouldn't have put that disclaimer in there.

Read Jihad by the Numbers - for a stunning analysis of how Islam first encroaches then terrorizes and consumes a society.

The nitwit they selected to design this atrocity has NO connection to the area or any of the passengers. None. Nada. Zilch. He’s a LA libtard and should stick to designing oddball buildings for left-coast weirdos.

Does the new design still have 44 glass blocks representing all the people who died, including the terrorists?

Which was precisely the reasoning behind his selection. This flaming moron has gone on record as saying that anyone who disagrees with his crescent-prominent design is mentally unhinged. In short he has no real qualifications as a designer of a memorial, unless its a memorial dedicated to singing a paean to Islam...

Here's Murdoch & partner/wife explaining to Flight 93 relatives how wonderful their design is:

If you’re trying to find it, you can see something anywhere you look. I think this is being a bit extreme, and it seems to be a tasteful and subdued memorial. Obviously there are others who feel differently, and while I disagree with them, steps should be taken to alleviate their concerns.

10-4, I have read it. No, I was merely zapping back at the quote, not you personally believe me.

Through out PA there are various memorials for veterans of wars in towns big and large. They are usually simple in design. All this brouhaha could have been negated had they simply kept it simple. Gettysburg provides a whole bunch of examples of tasteful memorials. Thats all that was needed for Flight 93. Keep the field as is, put the memorial in the middle of it. Thats it. But no, they had to get all “profound” and “artsy” & in the process they f**ked it up. Morons.

It’s pissed people off for over three years. In particular the locals who did everything to support the families, only to have some outside ninny come in and put a big red crescent over the crash site. Just WTH is ‘tasteful’ about putting a symbol of Islam over one of the 9-11 memorials? And maybe you are ignorant of the designer wanting to position 44 blocks to commemorate the number of passengers, crew, AND TERRORISTS killed in the crash.

Unbelievable.
44 blocks to include the murdering muslims.
This is the first I hear of that. It makes me so mad, I think I’ll go off on a rampage, killing, burning, cutting off heads, ...

Dang, I just remembered that I’m a Christian, not a muslim.
Oh well, guess I’ll just have to write my congressman.

Seriously, this designer is in dire need of a good old fashioned punch in the mouth. Lucky for him, gas prices are too high for me to drive there from Texas.

Yes, yo-yo-, the Flight 93 Memorial design still has 44 glass blocks in it - 40 for the heroes, and 4 for the terrorists.

1 dedicates the site at the entrance of the memorial to the terrorists, and 3 more dedicate the date to the terrorists.

There are 14 characteristics in the design that make it a memorial mosque to the hijackers; the biggest mosque in North America by a factor of 100.

Mean Machine, SEEMS TO BE is wrong.

What makes it distasteful is that it violates the public law for the memorial which excludes the terrorists from the definition of passengers and crew; and are not to be memorialized.

There are repeated terrorist memorializing features in this thing.

It not only points to Mecca, it points to their designated target; Washington, D.C.

There are two references to the number 19; the 19 hijackers of 9/11, in numerous crescents throughout the design - and a crescent is an Islamic symbol; not an American one. All you need to do is research Islamic countries’ flags - and the flags of terrorist groups which feature the crescent as their symbol.

There is an Islamic Sundial called ‘the tower of voices’ which designates the times for prayer throughout the year. There are specific calculations necessary for an Islamic Sundial.

Repeatedly throughout the design, wherever our heroes are referenced, they are thrown out of the Islamic heavens - they are banished to hell. Wherever the terrorists are referenced, they are in the Islamic heavens.

For example, in the “tower of voices”, our heroes are strung up in the center of it - in the form of wind chimes - like dead fish.

The “tower of voices” is a minaret that literally calls the umma to prayer - and the chimes inside represent our heroes, twisting in the wind and rain, clanging for all eternity.

It’s rather sickening if you think about it.

None of these things happened by accident.

And neither did the at least 13 mosque characteristics just ‘happen’ to pop in there by accident.

1. A qibla wall
2. A mihrab
3. A prayer area
4. A pulpit or dais called the mimbar or the minbar
5. A courtyard, called the sahan.
6. Arcaded or colonnaded porticos called riwaqs, surrounding the courtyard.
7. If the courtyard is roofed, the riwaqs will be roofed. If the courtyard is open air, like in the memorial mosque, at least a portion of the riwaqs will be roofed.
8. Full-service mosques provide waters for conducting ablutions before prayer. Ablution waters are placed within the courtyard or out through the colonnaded porticos that gain access to the courtyard.
9. Full-service mosques allowing women will have a separate women’s prayer area.
10. An imposing facade.
11. A crescent-shaped or arch-shaped entry portal.
12. A minaret, or minarets from which they call to prayer.
13. A tomb or other memorial.

I had no idea about the 44, that’s disgusting. I just didn’t think it was a crescent. I’ll check out your links, sorry if I came off as ignorant or condiscending.
