This is nothing more than an attempt by death penalty foes to stop these executions.

It is far more than that my FReeper Friend. It's the world court sticking it's nose under the tent. If they don't get the penalty over turned this time they'll keep trying. And with the help of the likes of Condolezza Rice, eventually they will be successful. All it will take is one, precedent setting instance and we'll be consulting "the world" on every Tom, Dick and Ted Bundy out there.

This is the kind of thing that really makes me consider getting out of the republican party.

I'm very sad to say that Mr. Bush is a One Worlder, just like his daddy.

Gee, does the US State Department ask for world court review when the Saudi’s behead foreign nationals for petty crimes??? No where in the Constitution do I see the State Department having anything to do with powers delegated to states.

Shadow government.

I didn’t realize Condoleeza was a part of it.

Membership in the CFR (Council on Foreign Relations) should have been a tipoff. Nobody, and I mean exactly that, *NOBODY* from that organization should be permitted to be anywhere near the levers of power in this country, as the entire premise of that particular organization is the establishment of a one-world-govenment. The "comeback" about its being "just a debating society" is based on fraud, as usual. All the membership are true believers in the one-world-government meme, the "debate" is about the best way to accomplish that goal...

Not having had my evening coffee, there is so much hemoglobin in my caffeine stream that perhaps my memory fails me - wasn’t the traditional punishment for treason drawing and quartering?

In Britain, yes.. In other places, the punisments were different, but equally gruesome, and equally lethal. Drawing and quartering was never really practiced here, having only been done once, in Rhode Island colony, at the end of the Naragansett War, on a colonist who sided with the indigenes...

America is the greatest nation with the weakest foreign policy and it has been so since Ronald Reagan left office.

The diplomatic core of each and every foreign country sees its role as one of convincing U.S. foreign policy makers to favor the aims and desires of their respective countries. Our problem is that our State Department thinks that is their role as well - convincing U.S. foreign policy makers to favor the aims and desires of other countries, not ours.

It’s as if it is necessary, and in U.S. interests, for the U.S. to be “friendly” to every other nation, but it is in no nation’s best interest to try to be “friendly” with the U.S. - according to how our State Department operates.

"...according to how our State Department operates."

Unfortunately, the incompetent federal swamp extends far beyond Foggy Bottom. Tell me, which federal agency seems to you to be trustworthy and is doing a good job for its boss, all American citizens. Name one (besides the Military). Don't feel bad if you can't -- I can't either. The FBI is a joke and the CIA worse (even Porter Goss failed to get it under control). Then add in a massive federal bureaucracy whose only interest is remaining employed (protecting their own rice bowls), doing as little as possible while maximizing their own pay and perks (much like our political hacks in what we laughingly refer to as "Congress").

I am so glad I will have been born, lived and die in this state...

I sat on a jury pool of over 450 people for one of Medellin’s compadres years ago...

I almost got picked, but my answer to the question to my knowledge of the case throught the media only went so far...

I told them news reports are not evidence in a court of law...But the people they did pick did the right thing eventually...IIRC, I believe they are all going to be executed for this crime...

So I’m ok with it...Why are some people getting their panties in a wad about this...Just because they couldn’t whine to their consolate who couldn’t help them in the first place???

Like they were going to hand over a “Get out of jail, free card” in spanish or something???

The stupidity of some elected and appointed officials never ceases to amaze me...

“”Put simply, the United States seeks the help of the State of Texas,” Attorney General Michael Mukasey and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice wrote Texas Gov. Rick Perry in a letter released by defense attorneys.”

But this administration says it doesn’t have time to consider a pardon or commutation for Ramos/Compean. There are ‘proper channels’ don’t you know.

This is just too much.

Wonder if Texas could come up with charges against Mukasey and Rice for conspiracy to obstruct justice. Any Texas criminal lawyers have an opinion?

I doubt the International Court of Justice would have any sympathy for U.S. citizens working to enforce the border, either.

This is just too much.

Agreed. What the heck is happening to this country?

No argument.

I’d like the next Republican president to obtain a two-year moratorium on ALL civil service rules, allowing a total make-over of all federal agencies with no promises to preserve any one’s job or to keep them on the federal payroll at all.

Hand over their dead bodies to the Feds to ship back to Mexico for burial. Sorry senior, you didn’t specify you wanted them back alive. ;)

Conspiracy theories really are just that...until we find out they were actually facts.

Most of the time when I mention the nefarious dealings of CFR I start getting Bildeberg and SKULL & CROSSBONES snickers. There IS a shadow government.

Sounds like total BS to me. The feds are doing this for political reasons. My message to Gov Perry, “Hang ‘em high and hang ‘em quick.”
