McCain tries to show independence and conservatism [by supporting the GW agenda]
Macon ^ | 7/29/08 | BETH FOUHY

Republican presidential candidate John McCain tried to strike a balance at a town hall meeting Tuesday between the independence he boasts of and his avowed conservatism.

McCain also told a disabled woman that he would step up enforcement of the Americans With Disabilities Act and assured a self-described cancer survivor that he supported stem cell research.

Drill domestic oil and save the fuel that would otherwise be spent on transporting it across the oceans. Boom. Done.

He’s good in this forum.

First off, no one disputes climate change. Some say it’s getting warmer, some say colder.

THAT FACT IS THAT HUMAN BEINGS ARE NOT CAUSING THIS.

I’m for stem cell research but not for government funding.

"Climate change, my friend, I have to tell you with all due respect, is real. It's real and the question is how do we address it," he told Englekirk. "Suppose I'm wrong and there's no such thing as climate change. All we've done is give our kids a cleaner planet.

Juan McCain is a moron.

"Suppose I'm wrong and there's no such thing as climate change."

And you've destroyed the economy of the US. What then Big Brother?

Another shot of Victory Gin for the boys in the backroom.

I cannot use my banks atm any longer because they build the screen so low and angle it down for wheelchairs users. Everyone else has to bend over or stoop really low.

"Suppose I'm wrong and there's no such thing as climate change. All we've done is give our kids a cleaner planet."

And ruined our economy, and our kids' economy, and probably caused the premature deaths of millions of people. Those "kids" he's using for his rhetoric will hate us for wrecking the economy. They won't be able to appreciate the "cleaner" planet while they're scrounging for food.

By the way - "cleaner planet"? Somebody tell this idiot that carbon dioxide isn't dirt, and it isn't a pollutant - it's plant food.

But suppose I'm right and we do nothing? Then what kind of a planet do we hand off to our kids and our grandkids?"

It's the vile "precautionary principle" so beloved of the envirotard crowd - the same "precautionary principle" which caused the deaths of tens of millions of people after Rachel Carson's genocidal book "The Silent Spring." And now the GOP has nominated a believer in this tripe.

Every time I start to think I'll hold my nose and vote for the moron, he has to say something like this.

" ... the question is how do we address it," he told Englekirk

On This Week a few months ago, McCain advocated green mandates as his solution.

This is McCain (from This Week, February 17, 2008) [emphasis added]:
STEPHANOPOULOS: How about on the issue of climate change? Because you and Sen. [Joe] Lieberman [I-Conn.] have come out for a bill which would have mandatory reductions in greenhouse gases.

MCCAIN: Gradual reductions, yes.

STEPHANOPOULOS: But they are mandatory.

MCCAIN: Yes.

STEPHANOPOULOS: Are you sticking by that?

MCCAIN: What I mean by that is that it's cap-and-trade, that there will be incentives for people to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. It's a free-market approach. The Europeans are using it now. We did it in the case of addressing acid rain -- look, if we do that, we stimulate green technologies. I have great faith in the American industry. General Electric, the world's largest corporation, has announced they're dedicated to green technologies. This will be profit-making business.

It won't cost the American taxpayer. It will make profits, because we'll move forward with the innovation and ability of American industry to address this issue.
No wonder McCain admits he doesn't know much about economics. Who does he think is going to pay for GE making all that profit, since he says it isn't the American taxpayer? Will President McCain just mandate that profits will henceforth grow on trees? Where is the profit from those mandated fluorescent bulbs coming from? Is McCain secretly suggesting he will set up a program to provide free fluorescent bulbs to the American people, since he says "It won't cost the American taxpayer"?

[Hint, JohnnyMc: Consumers. And a majority of consumers are also taxpayers. So, all that corporate profit will cost the taxpayers.]

“Climate change, my friend, I have to tell you with all due respect, is real.”

He’s right you know.
I’ve noticed over the years that about this time it stays warm/hot for a while longer, then in 2-3 months the termperature gets cooler.
Then it gets very cold, for quite a while. Then it warms up and gets hot again . . . there’s some sort of pattern here.
We’re doomed.

I need to get to one of these town hall meetings and ask him the question in a way that makes it harder for the smarmy prick to answer it. After all, I did it to Fred Thompson a few months ago. :)

"I am in keeping with the vision of one Ronald Reagan," McCain declared.

What he failed to say is the "one" Ronald Reagan, whose vision he is "in keeping with" is one Ronald Prescott Reagan, not President Ronald Wilson Reagan.

Why does the coot keep trying to make me stay home in November?

"Climate change, my friend, I have to tell you with all due respect, is real. It's real and the question is how do we address it," he told Englekirk.

It's been real for about 4 billion years (or 6000).

"Suppose I'm wrong and there's no such thing as climate change. All we've done is give our kids a cleaner planet.

And a wrecked economy and a standard of living far below ours.

But suppose I'm right and we do nothing? Then what kind of a planet do we hand off to our kids and our grandkids?"

Just as likely the kind where the boundless wheat fields of Canada and Siberia easily sustain a global population of 12 billion, as the kind or Mad Max world Al-Dopa and Ted Turner describe to you, blithering acolyte.

Please, John. You want to win the election? Go off the grid, shut your face, and wait for November.

Juan McCain is a moron.

I can't stand him. If I lived in a battle ground state, I would hold my nose and vote for him just because Obama is so much worse (hard to believe that's even possible).

But fortunately, trapped as I am in Blue State Hell here in Massachusetts, I can afford the luxury of refusing to vote for him without worrying that I would be helping to put Obama in the White House.

So I guess every cloud does have a silver lining. Maybe I'm stuck with Kennedy and Kerry and Patrick and all the other Democrat idiots that my benighted Commonwealth continues to put in office. But at least I can vote my conscience without losing sleep over making things worse.

Excuse me?

How does supporting the GW agenda display conservatism?
Me-too-ism for a brainless scare can scarcely be called conservatism.

Of course it's real, that has never been in serious dispute. Climate has been constantly changing since the world was created.

However, spending trillions$ to "feel good" about it and to be able to spout platitudes is hadly the sign of a rational human being --- never mind a wannabe leader.

here is the worst part.

NOBODY IS STATING THE CLIMATE CHANGE IS POSITIVE FOR THE WORLD!

For example, there are NEW POLAR SEA LANES OPEN for commerce.

-these polar routes mean faster frieghter travel and LESS FUEL SPENT!

-these polar access areas are now available for exploitation of natural resources (which comply with previous treaties both the US and USSR now Russia have agreed to.)

Global warming has meant MORE FOOD FOR THE WORLD. Europe is now able to be more food self sufficent with better growing seasons.

These global warming zelots will soon blame humans for the seasons.
