Foreshadowing the nation’s changing makeup, one in four American counties have passed or are approaching the tipping point where black, Hispanic and Asian children constitute a majority of the under-20 population, according to analyses of census figures released Thursday.
Racial and ethnic minorities now account for 43 percent of Americans under 20. Among people of all ages, minorities make up at least 40 percent of the population in more than one in six of the nation’s 3,141 counties.
The latest population changes by race, ethnicity and age, as of July 1, 2007, were generally marginal compared with the year before. But they confirm the breadth of the nation’s diversity, and suggest that minorities — now about a third of the population — might constitute a majority of all Americans even sooner than projected by census demographers, in 2050.
In 2000, black, Hispanic and Asian children under age 20 were at or near a majority in only about one-fifth of the counties and, over all, blacks, Hispanics and Asians accounted for 40 percent or more of the population in about one in seven counties.
Even with the growing diversity, all but one of the 82 counties where blacks make up a majority are in the South (except St. Louis), all but two of the 46 where Hispanics are in the majority are in the South or the West (except the Bronx and Seward, Kan., home to giant meatpacking plants), and four of the five counties with the largest proportion of Asians are in Hawaii (San Francisco rounds out the top five with 33 percent).
Except for two counties in New Mexico and South Dakota with large American Indian populations, the 10 counties with the highest proportion of minorities were along or near the Mexican border.

The main problem with this is that you need a really good depression where you can blame whites for all the woes of the minorities (combined). That is tough to do in good times because, besides blacks, most minorities don't have a real beef worth holding and if they are doing well why change a good thing.
No to worry. Comprehensive immigration reform is about to resolve this dilemma for all time.
Forget the other two groups. Hispanics are the dominant group
and when they fully realize that they will take over.

If Obama or McCain were to submit the exact same legislation as Comprehensive Immigration Reform, under which one would it get more votes?
Under which one would blocking cloture in the Senate stand any chance of being feasible? Under which would one would blocking cloture not stand a chance of being feasible?
You're exactly right, and that's because we chose to have less children. We actually work to support our children and put them through college. The ones who live on free programs know the more offspring they have, the more benefits they get. It a no win situation for us, unless you want to have 23 kids like Juan and Juanita do. LOL
You assume that all minorities have the same interests or even like each other. Asians and Indians, for example, tend to be better-educated and make more, per capita, than whites. Those groups would find themselves in the same boat as their white neighbors in a severe depression.
Blacks have always been more or less the same percentage in this country, through good times and bad, and have generally been in the same place, economically. Nothing new there.
That just leaves Hispanics. Even at, say, 20% of the population, you're still talking about a small minority compared to everyone else.
The idea that there is some brewing race war in America is paranoid fantasy.

There you have it. The New York Times attempting to throw a wedge between American racial and ethnic groups.
The NYT should understand as we do, that all those born in these United States are Americans no matter what their race, ethnicity or religion.

By 2011: naturalized: 20 to 30 million
By 2019: chain immigration: 40 to 60 million (possibly much more, parents, siblings, children)
By 2019: work visa program: 10 million
Will God reward Illegal Aliens for their DUIs, hit and run accidents, taxpayer dollar theft, deceptions irresponsibility and other shameless criminal actions?
Or will God reward honest Americans who spent their entire lives obeying the laws?
My money is on the latter group.
At 13% the Hispanics wield a considerable amount of power. They block the enforcement of our laws and influence the shaping of our immigration fixes considerably.
The Mexican consulates basically falsifies documents for them. Special interest groups front for them in the U.S. Presidents cater to them. Presidential candidates do as well.
The World Court, defends them.
Al this at 13%. And you think at 40% this will all change for the better?
This is especially true in California, my beautiful home state.

I agree with you about Obama and the other communists in our government trying to unite people against white Americans, and they're doing a fine job of it. It won't be long after Obama takes over before we do have a depression. Once he taxes business owners out of business, America is going to fall apart and with no jobs, it will get ugly, and we will have maybe 20 million new mouths to feed because they will be Americans.
Let’s hope that America as we know it will survive.
We can survive as a multi-ethnic country if critical masses of all of us hold to traditional values and family life as the center of our lives.
America as we know it will not survive, if critical masses are involved in gang culture, multi-generational poverty, multi-generational fatherless families, multi-generational failure to get educated, and failure of immigrants to assimilate and learn English.
