Commentary: Is it any wonder that nobody buys newspapers any more?
LONDON (MarketWatch) -- The scandal over former Sen. John Edwards' alleged fathering of a love child is rapidly being surpassed by a greater travesty -- not one single major media organization in the U.S is covering the story.

...they sit on stories all the time. Are you surprised? Please tell me you’re not.
The media has an agenda. Anything that doesn’t fit that agenda is ignored.
If the Dems and MSM seriously believe this story is going away.... well, it’s hard to believe they’re that stupid.
The News biz isn't a business. They aren't about making a profit, they're about pushing a leftwing agenda. Scandals only happen to Republicans.
If the News biz really wanted to make money, one of them -- just one! -- would go hard-core rightwing. Not like Fox. Fox is middle-of-the-road (and people call it rightwing). If MSNBC built a staff centered around John Stossel, Jonah Golberg, Mark Steyn, Ann Coulter, Michelle Malkin, and Larry Elder, they would capture a huge demographic.
The media has no interest in that scenario.
They would like it to go away.
I’ve only heard about this Edwards story on the internet, here and on another web site. Nothing from the MSM. Must be beneath their dignity to cover such a sordid story.
it’s scary, really.
one would expect a plethora of newspapers with differing and competing views.
not so. almost all are the corporate-owned, homogenized liberal-socialism of the university j-schools.
The media isn't - it's The Sheep who are, and the Left knows it.
As long as The Sheep are watching "Celebrity Dancing with the American Idols who Want to be Millionaires with Regis and Kelly on the next Oprah"...
The bias of the news media is now totally over the top. There is no reason why none of the media is showing any interest in this story.
His complete and total silence is fairly damning.
“media’s self censorship is a bigger scandal than edwards.”
mr. edwards is a hero of the supreme american soviet of which the left-wing press is a member.
therefore, it is not appropriate for the press to judge one of its own.
Larry Craig tapped his foot in a bathroom stall, and was probably seeking some homosexual company. The guy was on every TV network, magazine and newspaper across the country for at least 7 days.
Edwards is not only having sex with another woman while his wife is dying of cancer, the b@stard cheated so often that he now has a child to physically verify the adulterous trysts took place.
And not a whisper on the TV, newspapers or magazines about it?
Only Fox News brought it up, but this is only after forums like FR were abuzz with the story from "The National Enquirer."
The MSM has a very nasty agenda indeed, and it is anything but friendly toward Christians, Conservatives, Republicans and other Americans.
Didn't seem to stop them with Mark Foley and Larry Craig - they were literally licking their chops :-(
Silky saw all those cameras flashing and the videotape rolling. He knows he’s toast. Maybe he’ll take the honorable way out and jump off a very high bridge.
London!?!?!?!
Boy howdy, those guys think we have short memories or something. The English news media buried a MUCH bigger story.
Seems like nobody in the MSM wants to be the first “reputable” news outfit to run a story that only the National Enquirer has pursued. Beneath their dignity.
But it looks to me like the National Enquirer reporters actually have the chops and usually scoop stories that the MSM only picks up much later (I presume long past the time when the general public could make the Enquirer connection).
Imagine if the perp was a candidate for the nomination of another political party. Say Mitt Romney. We would have heard nothing else but this story from the drive bys.
Buried?
Good Lord! it was all over the newspapers and the King abdicated after making a speech on National Radio.
It was completely and absolutely buried for months, if not years -- in Britain. The story was all over the papers in Europe and in America, but if all you took was an English paper you wouldn't have read a word about it. Their relationship started some time in 1934, and there were pictures in the American papers of a Mediterranean cruise they took together in 1935, but nothing appeared in the British press until late in 1936.
Just like this story, though, it eventually came out and that's when all the trouble began.
