The Catholic Case Against Barack
Stiff Right Jab ^ | August 13, 2008 | Pat Buchanan

Posted on 08/13/2008 4:43:33 PM PDT by average american student

In the Pennsylvania primary, Barack Obama rolled up more than 90 percent of the African-American vote. Among Catholics, he lost by 40 points. The cool liberal Harvard Law grad was not a good fit for the socially conservative ethnics of Altoona, Aliquippa and Johnstown.

But if Barack had a problem with Catholics then, he has a far higher hurdle to surmount in the fall, with those millions of Catholics who still take their faith and moral code seriously.

For not only is Barack the most pro-abortion member of the Senate, with his straight A+ report card from the National Abortion Rights Action League and Planned Parenthood. He supports the late-term procedure known as partial-birth abortion, where the baby’s skull is stabbed with scissors in the birth canal and the brains are sucked out to end its life swiftly and ease passage of the corpse into the pan.

Partial-birth abortion, said the late Sen. Pat Moynihan, “comes as close to infanticide as anything I have seen in our judiciary.”

Yet, when Congress was voting to ban this terrible form of death for a mature fetus, Michelle Obama was signing fundraising letters pledging that, if elected, Barack would be “tireless” in keeping legal this “legitimate medical procedure.”

And Barack did not let the militants down. When the Supreme Court upheld the congressional ban on this barbaric procedure, Barack denounced the court for denying “equal rights for women.”

As David Freddoso reports in his new best-seller, “The Case Against Barack Obama,” the Illinois senator goes further than any U.S. senator has dared go in defending what John Paul II called the “culture of death.”

Thrice in the Illinois legislature, Obama helped block a bill that was designed solely to protect...

Buchanan makes strong case that not only is Senator Barack Obama pro-abortion, but that he leads the way in the U.S. Senate with an attitude (proven in Illinois, as well, with his three time legal endorsement of "after delivery" killings of babies) - and this too, a promise to overthrow all state restrictions on abortion.

Radical ... to say the least.

Buchanan also predicts that faithful Catholics will will steer clear of this callous view on life.

I say, look at the state rights attitude here as well. He's vowed to do the same for gay marriage ... and what else.

This is a man obviously who sees himself as King, or something to that effect. I fear the "change" he has in mind.

We all ought to.

Anybody who looks at nObama's credentials will steer clear of him, but the problem with a majority of average voters (including Catholics) is that they don't really pay much attention. They just sways with the winds like a crop of wheat.

I believe, as the article stated, that those who take their faith seriously and understand their responsibilities as Catholics will vote overwhelmingly for McCain, just as they did for Dubya twice.

IMHO anyone who was against the “born alive” law as he is/was does support infantcide. What else can you call it?

Correct me if I'm wrong but can't the church deny communion to politicians who are pro choice? I remember this Catholic activist in Bangor told me that. He used to picket outside Baldy’s old church with anti abortion signs and pictures of dead fetuses when he was still a city rep.

My question is: How can ANY WOMAN allow them to kill her own child? No matter what her situation is. There is always some agency, or adoption agency that will care for it if she can’t. When a woman says that it’s inconvenient or even impossible for her to care for her child, what’s to prevent the God-less among us to say that she can kill her oldest, or any one of her other children?

The Church not only CAN deny Communion to pro-abortion “Catholics,” according to Canon 915, it is MANDATORY to deny Communion to pro-abortion people. All bishops and priests who are NOT doing so are DISOBEYING the Church’s law.

Since publishing this article, Archbishop Burke, the foremost Canon Lawyer in America, has been made the head of the Apostolic Signatura—i.e., he is now the “Chief Justice” of the Catholic Church.

"The Democratic Party platform of 2008 finally dropped its old abortion language ("safe, legal and rare"), which had asked that women not have abortions unless they absolutely must. The 2008 platform, just announced, says instead, "The Democratic Party strongly and unequivocally supports Roe v. Wade and a woman's right to choose a safe and legal abortion, regardless of ability to pay, and we oppose any and all efforts to weaken or undermine that right.".......

.... And Democratic candidate Barack Obama, in The Audacity of Hope, compared women's regrets over their past abortions to white people's regrets about past bigotry. This Clintonian compromise—that abortion was a necessary moral evil—had become the most progressives could hope for.

From Hirshman in yesteday's Slate. Amazing comparison from Obama, I hadn't seen this before. This article is from a hard left pro-abortion extremist.
