Sign Kyoto – fund a war
Mark Henderson
August 11 2008

New Zealanders are starting to get nervous about what might happen to the money they are paying the Russians for failing to meet their Kyoto targets.

As reported in our feature on New Zealand and Kyoto, the poor kiwis are paying the Russians 4.1 billion dollars by 2012 to purchase carbon credits to offset the increase in CO2 emissions beyond mandated Kyoto targets.

Kiwiblog is reporting that there is no mechanism for New Zealand to avoid handing over this money even if it is used to fund the war against Georgia.

If Australia fails to meet Kyoto targets and has to buy carbon credits from Russia, they same thing would happen.

What happens if they refuse to pay? Russia will sue them in the "world court"? Kyoto and its other incarnations is the biggest scam in the history of the world.

So just what do ya get from Russia once they get the $4.1 billion? A piece of paper that says you’ve paid for $4.1 billion dollars of carbon credits?

How are the carbon credits transferred to NZ? Do they ship them by ocean or in an airplane? In boxes by post office, UPS or Fedex?

Where does NZ store all those carbon credits? Carbon credit silos? Carbon credit ponds? Carbon credit barns? Carbon credit warehouses?

Just curious.

The English language may have more than 500,000 words, but still lacks adequate terminology to describe how mind-bogglingly stupid these people are.

Even if Russia wasn't using the money to invade other countries, how do payments of this sort, since they can be used for any purpose at all, help fight global warming?

Very excellent questions. I almost feel moved to make a sojourn to the antipodes that I might pose them in person. “Would be funny if it weren’t so frightening.”

Too damn funny. They pay BIG money for a fake “problem” and then their money is used to kill people.

Niiiice going Kiwis!!

Of course they should pay the money. There is a scientific "consensus" that paying extortionate taxes or paying shakedown money actually reduces CO2 emissions. And, trust me on this, that will make it marginally less hot.

Of course, Russia may use this money to fund wars, but so what? Isn't there also "consensus" that the world is overpopulated? So, the more people the Russians zero out, the better for the environment, eh Kiwis?

If you notice, when Russia was a democracy they opposed Kyoto too. After the current crime syndicate that rules the country took power, they thought about it for awhile and then decided that Kyoto was a way to make money.

Boy, were they ever right.

It is frightening but it’s also stupid. I don’t even feel any pity for NZ. What can ya say? They’re gettin’ what they paid for? Not really ‘cause they’re payin’ a helluva lot of cash for a big shipload of nothing.

I wonder if NZ could counter sue for tank carbon emissions?

I also wonder how it's possible for New Zealand to have a larger “carbon footprint” than Russia has.

It boggles the mind.

Then again, so does taxing non-tangible property.
