The following information was sent to Jewsvote.org to place it on record that Jewsvote.org, whose stated mission is to tell the truth about Barack Obama, is aware of these facts. Our own stated position on urban legends and smears is, “Unless you can show us proof, or a reference similar to the kind one would cite in a trade journal or research paper, don’t show us the material in the first place.” Honesty and fairness demands that we join Jewsvote.org in dispelling rumors and urban legends no matter what we think of Obama, and we hope Jewsvote.org will similarly provide its readers with the truth, whether pleasant or unpleasant, about him.

It is a matter of record that the church to which Barack and Michelle Obama belonged for 20 years questioned Israel’s legitimacy as a state, blood libeled Israel by publishing accusations of genocide and development of instruments of genocide, published a guest opinion piece from a Hamas terrorist, and advocated divestment from Israel. The references are directly from the Trinity United Church of Christ’s own Web site (or that of the Trumpet Magazine) and therefore cannot possibly be fabrications, smears, or urban legends. We hope Jewsvote.org will review this material and verify its accuracy, and reconsider its advocacy of Obama’s candidacy.

The mission of Jewsvote.org is to convince Jewish voters that Obama is not anti-Semitic or anti-Israel, and to denounce as "smears" any hostile information about him. We must preemptively counteract Jewsvote.org by making it a matter of record that it knows of material like that above, which can be verified independently and is most emphatically NOT a smear or urban legend.

We cannot, incidentally, denounce Obama himself as anti-Semitic or anti-Israel because he has never said anything substantial against Jews or Israel. Instead, he is an enabler of anti-Semites (e.g. Al Sharpton) and Israel-haters (Jeremiah Wright). The word "enabler" is good because it makes him responsible for the promotion of anti-Semites and Israel-haters without making the claim that he is one himself.

But according to Obama he just went to the church for 20 years. He didn’t agree with the preaching of Black Liberation Theology or listen to any of the sermons. He was just ... there.

If the Jews can’t see through Obama we just as well stop protecting them in Israel because there is no hope for them.

I have always gave the Jews a serious lot of credit for being intelligent and if they vote for Obama I will reconsider my views on them totally.

There is a class of Jews that would probably vote for Hitler if he was running with a D instead of an N after his name. There are “Jews” who work actively to destroy Israel—a fellow democracy, which makes them un-American as well. The National “Jewish” Democratic Council publishes anti-Semitic as well as anti-Christian hate material. Unfortunately, this small minority uses its nominally Jewish identity to deceive decent Jews.

As a person of Jewish identity, I am obligated to denounce NJDC’s anti-Christian hate material just as I expect decent Christians to denounce anti-Semitic hate material from nominally “Christian” institutions (e.g. KKK, which uses the Cross in its regalia).

the scary cult of personality should make people who have been personally effected by them a little wary but I agree with you.
A strong review of what a candidate stands for should be mandatory but unfortunately it's not.
