ST. PAUL -- The 17-year-old daughter of Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin is pregnant, Palin said on Monday in an announcement intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for her child.

> If Palin can survive this election, I think she can handle running the White House.

I hope you are right. However, there is more to handling Putin and a nearly-nuclear Ahmanutjob than handling an unruly Drive By Media.

I really hope you are right, though.

However, when you degrade yourself into insulting those who respectfully disagree with you, calling them idiots, you show exactly what kind of person you are.

I don't think it reflects poorly on me at all.

I think anyone making a big deal over the Palin flap is either a liberal (and therefore, by definition an idiot) or an anti-Republican (almost as bad and with very little pragmatic distinction).

I know no conservative who falls prey to the mainstream media, the Democrat Party or their talking points. People jumping on McCain for picking Palin or on Palin herself are either stirring the pot because they have common cause with the MSM or are falling prey to to the disingenuous postings of lefty trolls.

So, if the shoe fits...

I think we should all be praying for our country right now.

I don’t like McCain and never have. Palin seems like a nice person with way too much on her plate.

However, Obama scares the **** out of me.

If I criticize McCain, I feel like I give the enemy ammunition.

I’ve been feeling very uncertain about this election.

>Everyone has a personal life and their are frequently big things going on their. However, it is very sexist to assume that Sarah can’t seperate her personal and professional life any more than Ronald Reagan or any other President who had a family.

Having a family isn’t the issue. It’s having extremely stressful and unusual family pressures (special needs newborn baby? underage daughter pregnant?) at a time where you need to focus on the country and its crises.

If a man was going through similar pressures I’d have the exact same concerns.

I had the same concerns when Edwards was running for president when the news about his wife’s cancer came out.

I thought it was strange that he was running for president, and I thought he should be at home with his wife.

They are saying the 2006 picture was taken in 2007. Probably because it fit their timeline when they were saying she was Trigs’ mother.

I LOVE that the libs are feeding on this.

Their anger is such that they can't consistently agree with what's "wrong" about this. I've heard that it "proves" the flaws of teaching abstinence--uh, as if teaching the alternative has eliminated all teen pregnancies?--and that this "proves" she is unfit because she "can't even take care of her own family".

What's at the core of this is something very simple: Conservatives aren't reacting to this they way LIBERALS think conservatives SHOULD act.

They want us to freak out and call the girl Satan, when in reality, we don't do that--well, some freaks do, but not most of us, not by a long shot.

The libs are freaking out about their inability to defeat Palin, so they are getting even angrier that WE won't do it for them, because we aren't acting in the cliched "evil rightwinger" way they always portray us as acting.

Obviously the church you go to allows you to be condescending and judgemental and back biting gossips. I am sure that is a lovely fellowship of hypocrites. You act as if you have never sinned.

Most people are completely understanding. But, there have been a few FR’s on here that have taken me by surprise. If you read through this very long thread, you’ll see if for yourself. But, it’s been a long day on FR. I’m going to bed and tomorrow I have alot of time to make up for.

Unfortunately there are more than a few here carrying the water for the MSM and the 'Rats.

Conservatives aren't reacting to this the way the libs think we should...we stand with Palin...so when I see those here who fall in line with the agitprop, the two words that come to mind are "fellow travelers."

I'd bet the farm on it.

I agree with you on every point. Outside of FR I pretty much keep my mouth shut when I have doubts. Amongst ourselves I think we can air our concerns and work things out, maybe some think we should always agree on every point or give up our conservative credentials. Praying hard for all of us. I trust God will be watching over us, no matter what...

I apologize for my earlier post. I did say I hoped that wasnt your opinion. Some on this thread have said it would make them happy if she would give the baby up for adoption. I find this outrageous and you got caught in my crosshairs.

This stuff about Palin right now... it’s not about discovering something the McCain campaign knew about it.. and built it into the strategy.

Anyway.. the democratic media is working hard to make Palin “want” to bow out by beating up and picking on her family.

If the McCain camp did their job, and I think they did, then Palin was briefed that this would likely happen so her enduring the democratic media will be ok.

It is sad that journalist have turned into commentators in the past several years. Blame it on the competition presented by bloggers/vloggers to the mainstream news outlets.. or just blame 24 hour news networks getting bored with just reporting news. Then again.. maybe even blame us for making negative news the only interesting news.

I bet that girl would rather be pelted with stones right now than put her family through this. God bless the Palins.

It's getting worse, sorry to say. Both children (Levi and Bristol) are on the front page of the NY POST:

All due respect, but you DO go to one of those churches. If you knew the private struggles churchgoers deal with and talk to their pastors about you’d fall over in shock.

Everyone sins/ makes mistakes, God explicitly tells us this, it’s what one does about the sin/mistake that determines one’s character.

Barack Obama made clear that if his daughter “made a mistake” he wouldn’t want to see her “punished with a baby”.
Sarah delights in her grandchild and supports her daughter when many people in public office would do whatever necessary for political expediency. It’s a comparison we should welcome.

This is not only the refreshing, TRUE change Sarah brings to the ticket but in loving her daughter she is proving to be an example that many in this country need if the traditional family is to survive this celebrity obsessed culture.

I agree.

I don’t see what any of this has to do with her being VP.
