An Australian power company has withdrawn more than 3,000 Chinese-made protective uniforms after staff complained of skin irritations.
Ergon Energy says there will be no more uniforms worn in the field from close of business today.
The Electrical Trades Union says more than 250 Ergon Energy workers had broken out in rashes and some had vomited after wearing the flame-retardant suits.
Ergon says as soon as staff reported skin irritations it advised them to seek medical advice.
The company says independent scientific tests are being conducted on the uniforms and it has advised its suppliers to do the same.
Chinese manufacturers have been hit with a series of product recalls in the past year, involving millions of toys, cell phones and food products.
No probrem. Just new anti-germ stuff. Prutonium.
The world is buying far too much stuff from China. But that’s what happens when you’re willing to compromise just to get a lower price.
Must be the polyester/creosote blend they use...
All to save a buck.
The only way to straighten China out is to either boycott their goods or bring manufactoring back to this country.
Everything from China is below grade.
Have you bought your kid new P.J.s in the last few years? Same rules now apply to P.J.s

At least people in other countries can stop wearing, eating, whatever Chinese crap. I wonder what the Chinese do? Are they dying of food poisoning? Do they have a lot of rashes from bad clothing? Do they die from poorly manufactured medicine? I've met a fair number of mainland Chinese but have never heard anything about these issues. Maybe it's normal to them.
“...broken out in rashes and some had vomited after wearing the flame-retardant suits...”
I don’t know about scratching, but vomiting could help put out the flames. Unless you’ve been drinking heavily :)
Shirt--Union Line, made in USA
Pants--Walter Thomas, made in USA
Socks--Gold Toe, made in USA
Briefs--Costco, Honduras too, I think.
Shoes--Carolina Boot, made in USA
Belt--Hand made in the Shenandoah Valley, Va, got it at a roadside stand. (Lasted 5 years so far, still looks and feels new. Chinese belts always kink and bust inside of a year.)
Ride--got me here--Yamaha Vino scooter, made in Taiwan. (No ROC parts, though, and I put US-made Michelin tires on it when the originals wore out).
Food--I avoid China here most of all, even in the pet food.
Good to see others here who make the effort.

Granted. But what would it cost if it were made here in the United State?
We're not as rich as we think we are.
