I’m sure Google itself puts a huge load on the Grid. The day it becomes energy independent itself is the day I Might listen to them.

“who do they think they are?”

A company that can spend its money as it wishes, subject to its stockholders of course.

I’d much rather Google spend its money on energy research if it wishes than have AlBore or some other liberal decide to confiscate my money via taxes to fund it.

If their efforts pay off, good for them.

Ditto to that, what is witht the hate on this thread — there is no government money involved, is there!?!

An analogy: I am against universial government healthcare, but not against healtcare in general.

Why would people be against this?

“Don’t be evil” went out the door when they decided to collaborate with China.

I see nothing wrong with Google spending its own money to promote this and do research. If we ever want to get out from under scumbags like the Saudis, we MUST have everything on the table.

I suppose Star Trek dilithium crystal anti-matter technology will be discovered and perfected any day now so by 2030 it will power everything. Anti-gravity technology is only a few years off too.

We’ve got too many spoiled punks (and companies) in this country that don’t have anything “real” to worry about.

These two punks who started Google are worth 13 billion each depending on Google stock price. They are very hi IQ and not spoiled. But if they believe this alt-energy stuff so much then they should each kick in 5 billion to a foundation to fund cutting edge alt energy products. Other rich big mouths (Warren Buffet) can do the same. So can Barbara Streisand and the Hollywood crowd

Talk is cheap
Let them put their money on the table
If they kick in five they have eight billion left which is more than enough

“Ditto to that, what is witht the hate on this thread — there is no government money involved, is there!?!”

The problem is that we have some dinosaurs who believe any mention of “alternative” energy is some sort of commie plot to stop the U.S. from drilling holes in the ground.

Countries like Russia and Saudi Arabia would be absolutely delighted if all we did was drill for oil and gas.

Actually that’s what they’re doing. That’s what the whole conference is about. And they’ve already spent about a billion on funding this kind of research. Plus the solar panel array to reduce reduce the grid energy used by their server farm.

Their money is on the table.

I say, Good for them! As long as they use their own money, I’m fine with that. If their efforts can help lead the entire nation further towards energy independence, then they will have done a really good thing.

I admire these guys for starting a great company and there is nothing wrong with pursuing alternative energy. But then they have to throw in this “Don’t be evil” line and come off like soft-skulled California moonbats.

Yep. Instead I use scroogle.org.

BE ADVISED: DO NOT confuse .org with .com here.

The evil plane.

A plane made of light weight materials, flying nonstop (not accelerating constantly), with little resistance (no wheels, aerodynamic) and with high efficient engines (Turbines are actually more efficient) a plane was demonized as this evil environmental sinner.

Like paper recycling, the position of those who refuse to fly and take trains instead, makes absolutely no sense, even from an environmental stand point. Planes are actually highly efficient. When people throw around huge numbers of fuel consumed by a plane, what they don't do is calculate what that comes out too per passenger per mile, and the fact that this plane is actually using a very low grade fuel (Joules per volume). Actually the plane beats their train, car, or boat.

Isn’t using Scroogle just using Google through a proxie? Does Google still get the ad money?
